Anyone ever just think about packing up all their shit, getting rid of the cell phone and computer, and just disappearing for a while. I have a good live, have friends, a job and health. But I feel there just is something else out there, or I need some self evaluation in my life, and feel the only way I can get this is by just packing up.

Given serious consideration to just buying a one way plane ticket to somewhere. Have a EU passport, figured i can maybe just bum around, and find some odd work in some European countries.

Well, it comes from experience. Only reason to move is for a change in environment. For example, if you like the ocean than you will happier living by an ocean, etc.

It's about people and unless you live in the middle of no where, why remove yourself from what it is about. It's all about whats important to you but if your not finding it here, it will rarely be found there.

Life is what you make of it, for me it's about people. By relieving the suffering of others we relieve the suffering in ourselves.

“Who will tell whether one happy moment of love, or the joy of breathing or walking on a bright morning and smelling the fresh air, is not worth all the suffering and effort which life implies?”

- Erich Fromm (1900-1980)

I don't know this fellow but he has a lot invested in his current life. Ultimately, it is worthless or it is precious. The value is in the process and experience, not in the end result my friend.

Worked out well for this guy. They even made a movie about him.

Christopher Johnson McCandless (February 12, 1968 – August 1992) was an American itinerant who adopted the name Alexander Supertramp and hiked into the Alaskan wilderness with little food and equipment, hoping to live a period of solitude. Almost four months later, weighing only 67 pounds (30 kg), he died of starvation near Denali National Park and Preserve
