I was just about to tell you that.

Really? It's a great venue. The area around there is pretty safe, probably even more so since I've been back. There are some pretty good bars in Greektown. In college alot of my friends lived in the lofts (yessss, it was art school) above Nikki's Pizza. I have an especially now fond, formerly mortifying memory of stumbling out of a party and puking pink wine cooler onto my date's shoes and the bottom of his white pants while still walking. Everyone was hanging out the windows and cheering.

Do you have an area in mind for hotels?

We can stay at Trumbullplex. I lived there for awhile.

*I am joking, I think you might hate it.

What's your price range? Rooms at the Marriott in the Renaissance Center start at $139. I haven't really been to any of the casino/hotel down there. I'm a big fan of www.couchsurfing.com but I know that isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Another idea that you and Mr. X will hate is the Leeland hotel, which houses City Club. I seriously love that place. It hasn't changed one bit since 1989. I've never stayed in the hotel, it always looked pretty sketchy and got terrible reviews. But....there's City Club in the basement, and I gu.....seriously, I can't even go on with this. It cost $90 and basically has zero stars.

It looks like anything nice is about $140 but, if we rent a car/s, it's a straight shot down Woodward to Royal Oak where I have friends we can stay with, or the hotels get cheaper(but only by about $50) and the area is nicer....but then you have to deal with driving.

I'll do more research and see what I can come up with.
