Some comments on various threads made me think of this question. Curious to know the craziest thing you’ve done for money.

Alright I have one.

I was working at this shit telemarketing job. Small underground thing about twenty years ago. It was selling this telephone service to people, total scam called Least Cost Routing. Basically the pitch is that you're going to have all of their phone calls routed to the least expensive carrier - be it (at the time) AT&T, MCI, whoever. Except that in reality they all went to Worldcom (which ended up going down via huge accounting scam) so it was just predatory marketing and definitely not for the cheapest service..

So anyway me and this dude Jason figure fuck it, the entire thing is a scam, so let's make as much as we can real quick and find something better in the meantime.

So what we do is we call back people we already signed up for the service, pretend they're new, get them pushed through again, get paid commission and we get fired from a shit job that no one will care about on our resumes.

It went exactly as planned and we both got paid, fired, drank a ton of beer and almost got our asses kicked.

True story.

1. Went to gay club w 4 guys from Long Island.
2. Food eating contest at Alliante Casino
3. Sold vintage baseball cards to my home economics teacher in the 7th grade to pay for my gambling habit
4. Sold my Movado watch to gas station attendant to pay for gas to get to ex girlfriends apartment....250 miles away
5. Sold rhubarb door to door as a young kid
6. Pirated porn movies and sold duplicates to my classmates for $10 a pop in the 6th grade
7. Going to court for that dentist to pay for hotel room


other things but my mind is fuzzy.
