The Atlantic Ocean is not a swimming pool you funny men. There's waves and currents and cold water.

I once went overboard while sailing in 6ft waves. I was maybe 200 meters from the beach. With the waves it was almost impossible to make any progress.

You're all dead. Deal with it.

So if you think you could wake up and swim 9 miles that us line saying you could run a marathon course, turn around and run about 20 miles the other way

Anyone here who thinks they can swim 9 miles is ridiculous. I understand there are "strokes" that require next to no effort, but they also won't get you anywhere quickly. I did a "lazy man" triathalon a year ago. We did whatever they do in the regular triathalon, but we had 30 days to do it. I think the swim part was 3 miles or so and I broke this up into 3-4 sessions I think. Of course I was doing an hour of cardio beforehand, so maybe it was possible to do more if I had not done that, but Archie is right on this.

I want someone to try to prove me wrong on this. Preferably on a wager. Archie is excluded as semi-pro swim type.

A mile in the water is further than it seems.

This article states a 10k or 6.2 mike swim is basically a marathon

When I swam, I dreaded sometimes being put in the 1500 Meter swim. Despite all my training and the ability to utilize flip turns every 25 meters I would often be close to puking afterwards.

But yeah old farts could prob do 1.5 swimming marathons with no training cuz swimming seems so effortless.

On reality I'd bet only 5-7 folks here coins tread water for 90 mins

I'll tell you who couldn't do it. Garo Yepremian.

Seriously, fok that guy,
