Went to see the orthopedic specialist today to get a cortisone shot in my knees this morning before golf. So when I get there they take me back to do X-Rays and Im like :fok:, I dont want to deal with all this extra stuff I just wanted to get a shot and get out of there.

So when the doctor finally comes in he looks at my X-Rays then turns to me and says its a miracle you can even walk period..

I got my cortisone shot and it helped A LOT. We played 27 hole tourney yesterday and just before we teed off they announced it would be cart path only due to the rain they had the previous couple of days. I basically walked 27 holes of the 7600 yard course (can play 7865 but we played 1-up) because I tend to draw the ball and all the cart paths are on the right.

At least now I have a specialist onboard when its time to hit my insurance provider up for the Lap Band surgery and they try and say its cosmetic in an attempt to get out of paying.

So at the end of this year I should be able to get that surgery and then in 5 years I should be able to get the knees replaced and I should be in prime shape by the time geriatric sex time roles around.

OUCH! I hate the cortisone shots. I only did it once and that was the most painful injection, even with the numbing agent. I can't imagine doing it more than the one time. I do get the series of three shots in my joint every six months, but those pale in comparison.

There was a little tightening initially due to some fluid already on the knee that he opted to not drain but by the time I started moving around that sensation went away. I couldn't inject myself but I tend to have a high tolerance for pain so getting that SIZABLE needle wasn't bad at all.

He is trying to convince me to do regular pain management injections with something other than cortisone though so maybe that is what you are on? I got a pamphlet but haven't read it yet so not sure what it was called.

Teela, 5 years, start your countdown.

Wally, how can they say that the lap band is cosmetic? A friend just had it done a few weeks ago and she's doing really well with it so far.

The injections I get are Orthovisc. They were found to have an anti-inflammatory "side effect" as well as lubing up the joint. Each shot is given one week apart and they don't really take effect for about a month after the first injection. I wanted to do Synvic-One because I would prefer to have one shot and get it over with, but my orthopedic surgeon wouldn't do it because it's too "new."

Five years? Wally, you've been two timing me with Nina. I'm not sure that I can forgive that.

I don't know that they would but we used to be Bluecross Blueshield and there was talk of it being heading into cosmetic surgery unless there was already heart problems or diabetes which I don't have even though I am a canidate for both.

We now have AvMed so not sure what their requirements are.

Nina, I think Matty's TP pic hurt what might have been. You would try your best and never say a word but we both know Matty's Monster would always be on your mind.

I couldn't ask you to settle for "lil" Wal when you crave Mondo Meat Matty.
