4.2% US Death Rate

Don't forget to take death rate with a major grain of salt as this is only on confirmed cases. There are thousands upon thousands of unconfirmed cases out there; even people WITH symptoms that are very likely to have it are being instructed to stay home if they aren't having serious breathing issues. So the actual death rate is almost certainly lower than 4%.

On the other hand, there are plenty of deaths that are being attributed to other causes that won't show up in the official tally. It's a lot of guesswork right now, especially with insufficient testing. If I had to guess I'd say the "real" number is somewhere in the 0.5% - 2% range.

The concerning thing to me is that we (Canada) have started testing random samples of the population and only 5% are coming back positive. That means there are still way too many covid virgins out there. If we need 70% to reach herd immunity, it's going to take another 15 months at this rate. Not good.

Yes, the ideal scenario is that we contain it enough that we can isolate the contagious and stop community spread. We're not there either - 5% of the population is a shitton of people.

We're stuck somewhere between the two quickest scenarios. We reacted too late to choke off the virus and "too early" to quickly reach herd immunity.

Trump halts World Health Organization funding over handling of coronavirus outbreak

As bad as the virus had been, another good side effect coming to light from it involving US being put over the barrel AGAIN! And of course the liberal left going bananas over it saying, how can you do it in the midst of this pandemic? So keep financially supporting an organization that might/probably cost citizens of the US their lives along with other countries people? Even if say no WHO misinformation/deception, why we been paying 10X the money than China? NATO, now these guys, what's next?

Yeah, this whole thing is just a mess. There was clearly no long-term plan here.

Quarantining/Social Distancing made sense as a panic move to try to flatten the curve and prevent the disease from spreading out of control and taxing the healthcare system beyond its breaking point, which unmitigated herd immunity would have done. But now with that mission accomplished, what's next? "Optimal strategy" probably involves some sort of rolling out process or intermittent quarantining, but who is going to come up with and implement this plan? Is the new plan "quarantine until vaccine" and just keep everything shut down for ~18 months?

You can bash liberals and question the effectiveness of WHO all you'd like, but this is nothing but a scapegoat tactic.

There is plenty of evidence (here's just one article https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...smission-risk-in-january-despite-trump-claims) that Trump and the US were warned about the threat of this disease back in January. He chose to ignore it, and even when it was becoming abundantly clear that the threat was real he was STILL calling it a hoax and saying it would magically go away on its own as recently as early March.

Halt funding, blame them for doing a shitty job. Putting his signature on stimulus checks (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/14/us/politics/stimulus-check-trump-signature.html) to show how much he's helping. This is all just a fucking shithead trying desperately to win the upcoming election. And he probably will! Make no mistake, this defunding decision is not based on merit.

And we can get these 4 to head the WHO 60-90 day investigation!

Hopefully they can succeed this time! :dunno:

Looks like it's going to be a series of reopenings and lockdowns, as I predicted and as described in the "Hammer and the Dance" scenario last month:

:lmao: Davey, I feel bad that you're personally scared more than me involving this virus! You behind those two politicians above and their despicable behavior as politicians?

Oh don't get me wrong, I have zero love lost for those clowns. I'm just saying that defunding WHO at this moment in time is just political grandstanding... that once again will have real-world negative effects.
