In regards to Colorado, while they haven't been much lately, it's a program with a rich football history that fits well with the Pac-10. As far as recent struggles but rich history go, think Washington.

Geographically and culturally, I think they are a good fit for the Pac-10.

They played it perfectly. They've been trying to get into the Pac-10 forever, but the Pac-10 was true to it's traditions. When this expansion talk got started, they were the first team to make the calls and get the thing pushed through. Original expansion talks had the Pac-10 adding Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. That 16th and final spot was likely going to Colorado, but it could have also been Utah or Baylor. Colorado made sure to get their foot in the door first, instead of waiting to see what Texas did like everyone else in the Big 12.
