So today, The University of Utah, is officially a member of the PAC-10 effective 2011. I can't tell you how excited I am about this. For many years, being a mid-major program, we were not taken seriously. This is a move in the right direction.

2-0 in BCS bowls (wins over PITT and ALABAMA)
2004, 2009 undefeated seasons
9 straight bowl wins

We now have a chance to be a National Champion.

Thanks to Texas and the Big 12 commish, that should just about wrap up the conference changes. Had Texas gone to the Pac 10, Oklahoma, Ok State, Tex Tech would have followed. Then the Big 12 would have folded, and the other teams left would have had to find homes, and smaller conferences wouldn't have been able to compete.

As is, everything appears to be settled. Big 10 and Pac 10 have their even 12, and Big 12 has their 10. Other than the now-stupid conference names, everything is now even, and this should be the last big move we see.

so do you think notre dame stays independent? what about the big east? i keep on hearing that the big 10 (11) isn't done yet.

yeah, the SEC is the 'cream of the crop' for sure and will be for a long while.

too many great teams, but because of that i could see a team like vandy or ark leave

IMO its m ore about the money these schools recieve than how well they perform.
I forget the figures that the SEC spilt up last yr just from TV deals but it was a shit load

I honestly think it's done.

Notre Dame ALWAYS wanted to stay independent for football. The massive conference re-organizing was based on the assumption that the Pac-10 was going to land Texas.

Had that happened...

Pac-10 becomes 16 team powerhouse (Colo, Texas, Tex Tech, Oklahoma, Ok State, Baylor/A&M/Kansas... A&M wanted to go to SEC in this scenario)

Mizzou, Iowa State, Kansas State, and whoever was left of Baylor/A&M/Kansas would now be without a home. The Big 10 would have the biggest pull, since it had 12 teams as well as their own network, and likely could have snagged 2 of these teams and perhaps pillaged from the Big East as well, which would have left that conference in shambles.

Had the Big 10 and Pac 10 both grown into 16 team super conferences, the ACC and Big East would have been scrambling for answers. Pressure would have also been on Notre Dame to pick a side, too, since there was too much money involved in these mega conferences for them to stay put. Also, would the Big 12 perhaps have tried to save their conference by keeping Mizzou/Kansas/Kansas State/Iowa State/Baylor and raiding Conference USA?

Texas keeping the Big 12 together pretty much ends this string of dominoes. Pac 10 is happy to add two great programs, Big 10 is happy to be an even 11 (they may still push for rutgers/pitt/notre dame and try to get to 14, but I think it's unlikely), Big 12 is happy to exist, Mountain West trades Utah for Boise, and ACC and Big East breathe sighs of relief that it didn't become Pac-16, Big-16, and SEC, in which case they would have been rendered completely useless.

nice! i will be prepared.

there has been some good games between the utes and beavers.

did you try the bok choy yet or the grilled salad?

No to the bok choy, but I grow my own lettuce and I did try grilling a head of it before making a salad. It was a different take on salad, but I don't think I did it right, because it came out kinda wilty and smoky. Is this something you're supposed to do on a gas grill where there's not as much smoke?

rs, i would make sure the grill is clean and on the highest temp possible. before you turn the heat on, lightly "lube" the grates on the grill with oil. maybe 2 minutes of action tops....

lemme know.
