I think the Cubs will deal him for a few mediocre prospects at the deadline.
I think the Pirates are ready to spend Stevie. They've been spending more than anyone the past few years on signing Draft Picks, foreign free agents, and on developing their south american academies.
they only player they really need to worry about signing in the next 2-3 years Is Andrew McCutchen. The rest are mostly 2nd and first year players. and under control for another 4-6 years.
All things considered the Pirates actually have done very well with their Salary Dumps with their current GM. They've got back good return for big name players that were owed alot and that mostly sucked after they were traded. With the exception of Jose Bautista, which was not a salary dump. Just a giving up on him.
