The bill from 5 years ago failed. It will get passed this time. The difference? Its available in the US and Canadian casinos can't compete with US casinos that have sportsbooks.
Also, last time it was a private members bill and nobody was interested, this too has changed.

Will be tabled in parliament Thursday according to the news.

Perhaps sportsbetting will be available here by the start of hockey season. I will be hanging around Caesars Windsor a little more once they start taking sports bets on site.

Nice part is that this is federal so it will be available country wide at once and not state by state like in the USA.

Until I looked up the definition online I had no idea the US had a different meaning for the word.
