CaliGirl's Match.com Escapades

You know as well as I do there is noway of determining the number of DUI related deaths are from addicts and how many are from simple too much to drink but in either event the impaired shouldn't have been on the road.

I can accept I am naive about the addiction. I will go you one better and admit to be completely, stubbornly biased to addiction. I will also admit that in many cases said addiction might stem from family, or other traumatic event.

I do understand addiction though. I am a compulsive addictive personality.

I don't think my stance on addiction is necessarily right but I also don't think trying to justify or make excuses for the addiction is beneficial either.

That's exactly why I asked how many alcohol-impaired accidents are caused by addicts. You brought up the question of how many accidents are caused by alcohol. It doesn't take an addict to kill someone while driving drunk.

Wally, causal events aren't excuses. They are contributors though. Simply blaming and/or shunning the addict isn't going to solve anything. In fact, it's typically worse for their mental health. The war on drugs and other hardline methods have never worked to solve addiction. What does work is understanding, treatment, and therapy.

I just think its funny that I never said anything about looking down on anyone. I just said some people make me cringe. Then Wally extrapolates that into me being some kind of a snob...which are people who he doesn't like. All the while admitting he doesn't really just love everybody all the same (snobs, druggies, pimps, prostitutes) while never even realizing how that could be perceived as a wee bit hypocritical.

So Wally can not like certain types of people but he'll decide what types of people you are allowed to not like and why.

Welcome to my forum world.

Enjoy your stay.

You guys still have Safeway down under? Im pretty sure that shit went outta business in the states 10 yrs ago.

Thats kinda like how the Japanese all dress like American 1950s and 60s hipsters and obsess over Elvis.

Love you too Shari.

Woolworth's is massive here. In Victoria it was called Safeway until a couple of years ago even though it was Woolies in the rest of the country.

Not sure what happened there but now it's Woolworth's in Melbourne now too.

And I'm assuming Safeway is still in Canada as it was our largest grocery store. Long time since I've lived there though so I could be wrong.

Safeway used to be THE place here (VA) 30 years ago. They all went away and got replaced by Farm Fresh, then Harris Teeter...then Sams Club, Costco. (Farm Fresh and Harris Teeter are still strong)

Safeway is kind of a relic in America. I thought it's demise was national, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
