Surely you jest!!!

A rebuild is not needed. There are several pieces inplace to continue to build upon. Some tinkering is all that is needed.

There isn't a single coach out there right now who is a better coach than Carlyle. If he is to be replaced, though, he will likely be replaced with DeBoer as he has a solid relationship with Clarkson adn has also coached Kadri for 2 seasons in Jr.

That will be the management spin. Obviously Shanny has an idea who will be the next gm and coach of Toronto. If Carlyle survives, he is on audition next season. Six wins since the Olympic break, heads will roll.

I hope all of the Original 6 teams do well (except Detroit), it is good for the NHL.

"So where were these champs born? When it comes to the country that produces the most champs, Canada is the clear winner with 63.7% of the players. The USA follows rather far behind in second with only 17.66%. Farther behind that we find Sweden with almost 5%, and then Russia with just over 4% coming in fourth."

"In looking closer at Canada, I found that Ontario was home to the majority of Canadian champions (38.5%), with Quebec (18.7%) coming in second, and Alberta (13%) not far behind in third. Ontario has been shown to be the highest producer of NHL players of all Canadian provinces, but those general trends list Alberta as producing the second most, and Quebec the third. Quebec and Alberta become flipped, however, when we look at just the cup winners."

The Toronto area produces alot of the best talent in the NHL but only has two players from the area.

As Cherry noted, the Leafs have plenty of American College players on the roster. We need more local home grown players.

I think you're missing my point, as usual.

I'm not talking about per capita anything I'm talking about the fact that the team based in Canadas largest city, with the most value of all NHL franchises had zero Ontario born players up until last season, now they have two.

The Leafs need more local boys on the team. Outsiders aren't aware that whe Anaheim or Dallas comes to Toronto they usually play their "A" game vs the Leafs because so many of them are from the Toronto area.

We need Toronto born/raised/trained players playing for the Leafs. Canadian players are the best, and Ontario breds lead the way.
The Leafs need more. Toronto needs another Dougie Gilmour or Darryl sittler.

Ontario has a population of 12 million I believe. Which is a small population compared to the rest of the world and other hockey playing nations.

You sound like a die hard frenchie habs fan. The leafs need more than Ontario born players. Dave Bolland alone will not win you a cup. We need a Crosby or Nathan MacKinnon type of player. The Leafs need to tweak their team. I say it's going to take a 2 year tweak. Our leadership core is . Forget it. We don't have a leadership core. What we need is a Shea Webber type of Dman to begin with. None of these young dmen from Ontario that are in the system. Not a single dman in our system (Percy, Finn) are game breakers. And they're from Ontario. TBH, Our drafting the last 3-4 drafts (not counting Rielly) has been brutal.

We need less, as in ZERO, American college players.
You dig?

Players in US colleges are inferior to what the OHL,QMJHL or WHL produces.

Why the fuck Burke thought it would be a great idea to sign undrafted college guys from US universities is mind boggling.

Sure when NS produces more than a half dozen NHL calibre players i'm sure the Leafs will be interested.

It's worth the shot thought, Plommer. We don't have to give up draft picks. I know most don't pan out. I think 95% of U.S. college free agents are busts, but we scored one with Bozak and he's even a marginal player in my eyes, but he cost us ZILCH.

We need a STUD D who can be our leader. Like I said we need a Shea Weber type of player.

Shanny has turned this team around so much in one year that he should be named NHL executive of the year. This guy has the team pointed in the right direction. Give this team 2 years adn we will be a steady and relaible Stanley Cup contender. There's still work to do, but things are looking good. We drafted pure skill players this year and that will continue for the next several drafts. FINALLY!!!

The Leafs are going to be a top team in the east from management right on down to the on ice product. Surely any hockey fan can see that things are moving in the right direction. FINALLY!!!

I'm fucking thrilled!!!
