For me, this season (so far) has nothing on seasons 3 & 4. We'll see what happens though.

Not enjoying Walt as an uber bad guy instead of one in the making.
Not enjoying seeing Mike showing any sign of weakness.
Not enjoying the train heist and magnet plot lines.
Not enjoying Lydia. She should be gone soon I think.
Walt Jr is just plain annoying as fok.

I am enjoying Skylar this season. Yikes.

Still excited to see every new episode though.

Dinner scene with the Whites and Jesse = :lmao: Another bit of tragicomic genius. Aaron Paul played his clownish part to perfection.

Also enjoyed the previous scene with King Walter sitting in his La-Z-Boy throne and Jesse as the servant/advisor sort of kneeled down in front of him. That was clever.

Not sure where this is all headed.

The GF woke up looking annoyed this morning.

Me - What's wrong?
Her - I can't stop thinking about stupid Breaking Bad. It's a waste of my time.
Me - Unlike Steven & Chris? [Steven & Chris is a stupid-ass "lifestyle" show hosted by two faggots on CBC]
Her - Steven & Chris's advice is applicable to real life.
Me - Breaking Bad too. Don't turn on your family to start a meth empire. And don't shoot little boys in the face. Jesse hates that.

A lot of pure darkness in that episode.

Meanwhile, Walt has officially gone mad.

I find his transition or motivation for not taking the 5mil pretty weak. His random reference to a business opp he lost means that he has to give up his wife/family/future for this other business op to "grow".

The series is starting to move too fast and making larger jumps of assumption than before.

I disagree with FF's sentiment. Walt was always this sour and 110% egocentric man. See how wide-eyed he got when he learned how much money could be made with something as "simple" as manufacturing meth (season 1, episode 1). From that very moment he became a man on a specific mission - to gain notoriety as a supremely clever man. That's all he ever wanted. He couldn't even let Hank believe that Gale was Heisenberg - that's how badly he wants to get credit for his smarts. The rest of the world, family very much included, can go ahead and get properfucked. He's never strayed from that.

Walt's disappointment and envy of missing out on the huge future success of Gray Matter was portrayed early in season 1 in the episode where he goes to a party at the co-founder/former partner's house.

I actually think that speech Walt gave Jesse about why he wouldn't sell made his motivations more plausible. And at this point Walt realizes his marriage can't be salvaged. Quitting the meth business isn't going to solve his personal and family problems. So the meth biz really is all he has.

Agree.

It is also a very modernist plot point, by saying that in the big picture 5 million dollars isn't as much nowadays. Especially compared to his potential share of 1.26 billion from Gray Matter.

I think there are over a thousand billionaires in the world today.
