Lol, that is where our mother's differ. My mom is a hypocritical racist. She was so happy when Obama won and said how our nation made her proud. This is the same woman who told the black lady at Wendy's to "Cut the shit and don't give me anymore of that black girl attitude".

Wow. What was the girl doing. Your mom's got some balls. It's one thing to be irritated at a Wendy's employee, a whole other thing to bring it up to that level. My mom is actually pretty good with people one on one and can be amazingly nice and generous but when it comes to large groups, she gets a little weird. It's very hard to pin her down.

Last time we visited her, we were at a Asian/Thai restaurant down the street from her house. She was railing on one of her handful of subjects, probably the democrats (it's one of her favs) and then proceeded to tell me about what she did last week. Apparently this place is pretty new. The owner is also the cook (really good food, he makes his own tofu). She noticed that he was also waiting tables and the food was coming out slow. She asked about it and he said his wait staff didn't show up, and he was doing everything.

When she was done with her lunch, she paid, left and then went around back knocked on the door and offered to help him wash dishes, since he was so swamped.

Sometimes, I ask her how she can be so violently angry with "the blacks", "the gays", "the democrats"..... and then go out of her way to help "a black", "a gay" or "a democrat".....

I never get a straight answer.

A story that really illustrates her disconnect was when I kicked drugs and was a few months into a 12 step program. This was like fifteen years ago. I was sitting at her kitchen table. A story in the newspaper prompted her to say, "I can't believe these drug addicts! The should just round them all up in a park or something and shoot them." I looked up at her like, "wha?" Thinking that maybe she was taking a passive aggressive stab at me or something. But she just read the paper for a little while longer and then continued on with some other conversation, honestly making no connection with her comment and me sitting there.

*sigh*

She called my friend Kevin. He works at Qualcom. She wanted to know if the police would be able to trace a print out back to a specific printer. Kevin was like "Uhhhh, Helene.....what are you up to?" She wanted to print "A Boxer is a dog. Barbara is a BITCH" and flier cars up and down the street.

He told her that the ink could be traced and she probably shouldn't take the chance.

The secret service visited her and my step dad once because she called some democrat's office and said "Give me a broom or give me a gun, I'll sweep them out anyway I can".
 
Although, I would NEVER want her here, she would make for a great poster. I was just going through my email and found this (She's a knitter by the way):
