Just go look at American idol. Sure you have 10000 people who are passionate about singing but how many of them are actually good enough to make it? A couple of handfuls?
Nike selling false dreams and bravado. As long as people don't equate them for some took of moral superiority then best of luck to them...

Nike may lose market cap short term. But this campaign will be profitable for them. Nike doesn’t care about the opinion of a white male from middle America working as a laborer. The playing to the inner city minority youth with this ad.

The whole notion that athletes, even those at the top of their game and the handicapped ones, sacrifice everything feels icky to me. Maybe because I'm not an athlete or because I'm predisposed to not care about Kaepernick (I'm a well to do whitey from the northeast)... but like... it's just sports. Maybe I'm just predisposed to NOT being a Nike consumer so nothing they do will resonate with me.
