I’m not going there today, pal.

I will hit you guys up when I go.

Any advice for first timers? Do I watch from the rail or the fancy seats? What’s the simplest bet to make? Do I lean longshots?
forget the fancy seats. Honestly, you wont be spending a lot of time sitting in them. Enjoy the scenery of the park and walk around between races. Try not to overindulge yourself in betting a slew of simulcast races. treat the experience like an experience and not a glorified OTB joint.

Simplest bet to make verbally is a horse to win, place or show.

Looking for value is always my motto. I never bet chalk. That said, they are longer shots for a reason. Don't expect to win, but if you can walk away with some of your betting bank roll left, you are a winner to even the most ardent horse players.

The key is to HAVE FUN. I've seen so many degenerate horse players not appreciate the surroundings. It's sad. I've done this and it makes me cringe.

@Tron definitely watch from the rail and walk around (between the rail and the paddock is a good start).

Bet "win-place-show" on medium to long shots and you'll cash a couple tickets. Just realize that it's 3 bets on one ticket ($10 win-place-show on the 5 is a $30 bet). Maybe bet "exacta box" with two horses but not the two shortest prices in a race.

Cheer as hard as you can for your horse to come in. It's completely normal and it's really one of the best parts of being at the track.

Don't chuck your ticket until the race is official.

MM is the 3 horse in the 9th race (420pm) Saturday in Tampa. If he wins that and stays healthy the next race in 2022 will be to qualify for KY Derby points... Lotta ifs but sign up for an acct somewhere like twinspires.com if you wanna watch. I'm heading down on Friday.
