So what's the deal? Has MrsX scratched her roller derby itch and that's it, or is she intending to get deeper into it?

Oh, she's fully obsessed with it. Right now, her knee is a little tweeked, so she's resting it for a week or two and it's killing her to not be practicing.

If her body can take it (and I think it can, she's pretty tough) I expect that she'll be playing for many years.

Mr X how often do nasty injuries occur in this game? Blown out knees, crushed fingers...I imagine it has to happen every so often?

Well, there were a huge number of injuries this last month, mostly at practice/scrimmages. In the past 60 days, I personally know of three broken ankles, two of which were tibia and fibula breaks that required surgery, several knee injuries, one of which was a severe enough meniscus tear that she retired from derby, one severe concussion, and two sets of stitches.

We've been told by the veterans that this was a crazy crazy month, and that historically these serious injuries are pretty rare.

Wowie zowie. Some of those honeys are pretty large too, which could only add to the propensity for serious injury.

Oh man I have to attend one of these sometime. What a blast.
