Gonzaga -1-1.5 presently. Both teams know each other very well and as expected these 2 teams made it the conference tourney final. The game appears to be a tossup with no glaring advantages either way. It's just the way each team gets the job done. St Mary's will do more of their scoring from the outside while Gonzaga will rely on inside scoring.
So possibly the biggest point to look at is which team will do a better job of stopping what the other team likes to do? Or maybe which team gets more production from what they don't do as often. Meaning the Gaels get more points inside while the Zags have more 3PTs dropping?
Won't go into numbers in detail but looking over things at Statsheet, Covers, and Kenpom it appears Gonzaga over the entire year has the slightest of stats edge along with a slight edge on the bench. Also St Mary's hasn't performed as well down the stretch.
IMO Gonzaga is the play here up to -2! As lights out as St. Mary's can be from the outside, counting on that to come through in big games IMO is a bigger gamble that relying on a team that can get points on the inside. Good luck to anyone playing the game!
