Saulty you think he's the greatest ever? I think so, the level he has reached is top human form in the game. I've seen lots of footage of Pele and Diego, they did some amazing stuff, Pele's numbers are incredible as well as Diego's explosiveness.

Then there's Di Stefano, Puskas, Garrincha, Van Basten orbiting around them leading this group is Cruyff I think.

Then there's Zizou, I saw a ton of Zizou in person. He was simply elegant in the field and such finesse ability. He will probably become my most precious memory of European football as the years go by and I distance myself from sports. To me he lives in a space between the orbiting stars and Diego, Pele.

Ronaldo was a tragedy. Destiny didn't allowed him to fully realize. Who knows how bigger he would have gotten.

But Messi now I think he's right smack in center podium at the top, how young he reached this plateau and the potential for the future. The man is the best. La pulga.

I don't know if he is the greatest ever. But he is one of the best right now. I haven't seen the old players in action so I can't give an honest opinion if he is better than them. You have some pretty good names there most Americans have no idea who they are.

Such a shame about Van Basten and Ronaldo. Injuries ruined what could possibly have been an even better career.

My dad had tears in his eyes when Il Fenomeno struggled against France in '98, pretty sure his career was over. Then in '02, the world saw him set the stage alight by leading Brazil to a World Cup win.

I grew up watching his destroy teams all over Europe. Amazing, amazing player.

Pele, not sure what to think about him. Sure, he had a great record and all, but his attitude is so awful towards everyone except Brazilians, I dislike him a lot. The "Messi needs to prove he is better than Neymar" argument is so full of bollocks. But his achievements were magnificent.

There's been one player/person I have always rated higher than Pele, and that has been Maradona. Such a colourful character and an exceptional football player. He led Argentina to a World Cup, which is something I hope Messi can accomplish. No better chance than in 2014 in Brazil (Sorry Rogue).

Zizou. Ah, where to begin. It's like a perfect romantic story with a tragic ending. The right music, the right script, everything perfect. Then he goes and ruins it with the headbutt. That won't ever make me forget how he dominated midfields with his brain and skill.

People also forget about Eusebio. Guided the Portuguese to 3rd place in the World Cup and took Benfica to the European Cup finals thrice. 319 goals in 313 appearances.

Beckenbauer, Yashin, Baresi, Maldini, Best, Platini. All greats among men.

Yes, 2 time World Cup champion. The talent of the Brazilian one was miles ahead of the Portugalian fagottity one. Brazilian Ronaldo got fukked by injuries very young in his career. Not minor shit, years long type injuries. He didn't get to play as much.
