A lot of good advice in this thread. Can't go wrong with the entry level Yamaha's. I have a $250 Washburn that sounds really good with a new set of strings. If you want to go apeshit get this:

My Yamaha guitar is pretty amazing when I think about it. I got it when I was 11 which is 36 years ago. It was about $130 new.

I've never taken any particular good care of it. It survived my teenage years and my heavy drugging/drinking years and has been through all kinds of shit from having stuff spilled on it to being left outside overnight in the freezing cold.

But it still plays just fine and I imagine it will for quite awhile.

Blitty, go to the store and play around with some guitars. Find out what feels more comfortable.

That's what I was thinking. I wouldn't be shopping for a guitar on-line. It should be a hands-on experience.

(But yeah, it seems like a decent deal as far as I can tell).
