F0k cream and sugar. I think black coffee is kind of an acquired taste, but it has the HUGH benefit of being virtually free of calories. I interned at a company in college that had only 3 employees, none of whom put anything in their coffee, so it was either bring my own creamer and sugar (which I never remembered to do), or drink it black. Within a few weeks I had converted to black coffee.

According to http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-n...d-sugar?portionid=2423052&portionamount=1.000 a cup of coffee with cream and sugar has 50 calories. I've been drinking black coffee for about 7 years now.

50 calories * 3 coffees per day * 365 days * 7 years = 383,250 calories
383,250 calories / 3500 calories (you gain a pound for roughly every 3500 extra calories you take in) = 109.5 pounds

If I did everything else exactly the same, other than adding cream and sugar to my coffee, I would be 109.5 pounds heavier than I am now.

I like to drink black coffee. But in order for me to do that I have to buy some good coffee. If I just buy the grocery store stuff it's usually too bitter and needs a bit of milk and maple syrup.

And I type this I'm drinking black shitty grocery store coffee because I's outta milk.

Are those studies really comparable, though? The ones I've seen look at the body's reaction to artificial sweeteners.

It's very debatable if any of the ineffectiveness of artificial sweeteners for weight loss has anything to do with a metabolic response to the sweeteners. Needs to be studied a lot more, but my understanding is that, most likely, people make up for those calories in other parts of their diet, and I would expect the same to happen with the black coffee. :dunno:
