We sometimes get racoons in our garbage dumpster. Sometimes there are whole families of them in there. I don't like it because I don't want to hurt them by heaving a bag of heavy stuff right onto their heads. So I have to peak over the edge of the dumpster before unloading. It's not the end of the world but garbage is gross and I would prefer to just lob my bag(s) from a distance like I do in the winter. They aren't there in the winter.
Someone always sticks planks and large branches in there so they have an easy way out if they want.
People here seem to be in harmony with the racoons.
I cannot help but laugh when an animal misses their jump, they always look so determined, and then BAM! meet floor!
My opinion with pretty much any wild animal, is if they are not causing any harm, leave em be.
i have a buddy that hand feeds them cat food...every night he sits outside and feeds them...then they go away...cant wait until he posts pics of his hand half eaten off and he has to go get shots in the ass for rabies
Muddy you should always lob your bags. Imagine you're sitting in your living room and food starting raining on you, you would love it, yeah a banana might hit your head but you wouldn't care.
Yeah it just all depends. If it is a light bag of kitchen garbage, no problem. I just get cautious when I am throwing out extra anvils and/or bowling balls.
