Rouge, I don't know how you can practically avoid all the tracking.

I have noticed that google searches I've made on my Windows phone showup when I'm using my linux machine using google and I wasn't logged in to gmail on either.

Sounds like they track via multiple methods. IP for sure.

I don't use Ubuntu, I use Fedora Core.

track all they want. they would NEVER be able to hunt me down. if they go off ip, they would currently be tracking me to somewhere in idaho.

Windows updated to 8.1 and introduce seamless syncing with their cloud service. All local files synced to the cloud becoming the master files, and you local pc only a terminal of the service. The cloud and auto upload becomes the default option for the Documents library.

I wasn't liking Windows 8 with their mandatory MS account for offline computing but this 8.1 integration now becomes a big red x. :redx:

More Linux.

I have no issue with cloud storage as an optional service. I can see situations where it could be handy for non-sensitive data. For example, if you have all your MP3s on cloud storage, you could listen to your music from any computer/phone/whatever. On the other hand, I could see the RIAA trying to get a law passed where they could scan cloud storage for suspected pirated music and send out copyright violation notices.

Back to xUbuntu for plommer.

xfce desktop is just what the Dr ordered. This xUbuntu machine works flawlessly and is fast as fukk. Windows 10 nagged me to fukkin death.
