A. My biological clock is not ticking

B. I used to date a guy that had it. He had that in combination with IBS (is that possible?) and avoided spicy foods, anything greasy and nuts. If we went out anywhere for the day, he wouldn't eat because he was afraid of having an attack. Not the best method.

I'm confuzzled - I never said your biological clock is ticking...

me.

have been dealing with it for several years now. certain do/don't foods will affect people differently. they've actually backed off the bit about nuts. the little paper-thin husks on peanuts are a no go, but i've had no trouble with plain almonds.

i avoid red meat and certain cuts of pork (chops, for example). if i slow-cook a shoulder roast in the crock or smoke baby-back ribs, i don't have any trouble. also avoid seeds at all costs, so i have to be very careful with salsa or when anything has tomatoes in it. i just make my own salsa that is seed-free to satisfy my jones for that.

don't miss beef at all, but i do miss okra probably more than anything else. and yes, fried foods won't do you any good. i get away with bacon maybe 1-2 times a month, but very crispy and very well drained. same thing when i fry fish, just do it occasionally and again, crispy and very well drained. also, be cool with alcohol. anything remotely close to binge drinking is definitely out.

most important thing right now is to eat a very, very bland and strict diet until you're well past the initial infection. they originally removed several small benign tumors from my colon that might have been a contributing factor. have had a couple of colonoscopies since and all is well. sucks that you have to really watch what you eat, but like others have said, i can promise you that giving up a few things you like is worth not getting one thing you'd really hate (colostomy bag).
