What do you think of this?

Iranian dude has his marriage proposals rejected and, in an all-time douchebag move, he throws acid in the woman's face, blinding and disfiguring her.

Islamic law allows that the victim can choose as punishment, an eye for an eye. In this case, that he be blinded. In fact, she was scheduled to deliver the blinding drops herself - however because of an immense outcry, it has been postponed.

Okay I am over-simplifying and I'll post the link but what about this? I think I am anti-outcry. In other words, I don't mind the guy being blinded for what he did. I'm generally pretty liberal and human rights oriented - maybe I'm showing some uncharacteristic savagery in this case - but that's really how I feel. Fuck that guy!

FOK!

Brutal....

Apparently "an eye for a eye" is not the preferred punishment of the victim.

Speaking on the interactive television program Saturday, Bahrami said she favored a more modern course, suing for damages. "I want him to be punished foremost. But if there are human rights considerations, then I'll accept two million Euros and his life imprisonment," she said.

I think part of my reaction comes from the appalling treatment of women in many Islamic parts of the world. I think of stories like that muslim woman who was gang raped and severely injured - and then by islamic law was sentenced to jail for the incident - because it was considered adultery. You hear about shit like that all the time.

I feel like women need protection and shit has to start turning around.

I argued that with an Islamic woman (pre-911) during pregrad and she stated I didn't know what I was talking about...is thought that Sharia Law was dignifying.

People get goofy in the head when it comes to religion. Mind you it's not just religion. Lots of American women back in the day complained about what a skank Susan B. Anthony was and how it was better if the men do the voting.

I guess rationalizing is easier than fighting.
