The best part about watching a soccer match is complaining/talking about the sport's inadequacies. Each and every game is sooooo full of all the things that make soccer so terrible (flops, mamby pamby "athletes", flops, stoppage time, flops, confusing rules, flops, backwards passes, flops, poor/arbitrary refereeing, draws, flops, racism, draws!, flops).

Isn't commenting on the rules and intricacies of a sport, including complainants/criticism part of the enjoyment of sport? Think about it, isnt that all espn, sports illustrated, sports talk radio, and every fan conversation ever are all about? Imagine if we didn't have any gripes about steroids in baseball, pass interference or hitting the qb in football or the shootout in hockey. We'd all just recite the scores and that'd be it.

I think more people understand soccer and just think it's severely lacking in many regards, yet its still enjoyable enough to not fall below the critical level where we tune out - particularly the event that is the world cup, of which soccer is just a part.

I like watching the world cup soccer games and maybe it's hyperbole when I say it, but soccer is terrible.

yes, good point. soccer can be enjoyed without the hype and over analysis.
