Power lines are down all around. And the ones connecting my house to the lines are laying down in the yard. All four major conduits from TVA to Cullman were damaged and the area I live in was said to be their most challenging. I have one area of roof damage where the weatherhead was attached and the attic vent use to be. I have a total of 9 trees down, one demolished backyard fence, and one missing storage building. I am on a waiting list for an electrician. But even so I have been told that they hope to have power reestablished by the end of the week.

I love my gas water heater.

This Extension system has set up a generator with the wifi so people can charge their cellphones and access the internet. So I am playing a bit while my phone charges up.

Nope. Here the peak tornado season starts mid-March. Usually it calms down at the end of April but not this year. We have more storms moving in for later today. WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

We have had more one of the roughest winters in decades, one of the roughest springs in decades....hurricane season (which officially starts June 1) scares me.

yeah those are for storage mostly...... no different than a regular basement or Cellar I guess..... not sure why the can't be connected to the mainhouse from the inside like they are in pa, mi, il.

I miss my furnished Pa basement.

RJ, some people have them. Right inside the side of a little incline in the ground. Completely stocked with candles, laterns, food and moonshine. There are some areas that seem to be more tornado prone here than others. I live in one that isn't a normal route for those boogers. There is currently some debate as to whether my damage was from a tornado or straight line winds. I was in the middle of it so I know it was a tornado. Straightline winds don't swirl like that.

ok that makes more sense.

I don't know what i'm talking about really. I've never lived in a real tornado hotbet.

when I was like 6 or 7 we had one that devasted an area named Tionesta about 15 miles from where I grew up in the mid 80's. I remember in the years after that we had a lot of "drills" where they pulled us out of our classrooms and had us kneel in the hallway with our hands over our heads against the walls..... because that is the best way to protect yourself from a tornado

Nina , don't let your hubby or boyfriend on a roof with a chainsaw, they could do more damage than good. Trust me, I made the same mistake, trying to help a lady in the neighborhood and I almost took out her back porch . Hire someone who really knows how to use a chainsaw, just be careful about some of the people who show up to the house, lots of rambler/ con artists move around in times like these.

Hope you guys are doing alright. Glad to see you have access to some power at least.
