Unfortunately, they overlap here so I can't tape both. (Yes that's right, I tape things.)

AMC has The Killing which sounds promising. As far as I can tell it is about a female cop with some special empathic/lie detecting abilities. Brings to mind the Tim Roth series Lie To Me which I always thought was a great premise but it was just too aggressively network-dopey. Hopefully AMC can get it right with The Killing and it is closer in quality to Breaking Bad/Mad Men than Rubicon.

Also debuting tonight is The Borgias with Jeremy Irons (carried by Bravo in Canada). Apparently it is from the creative people behind The Tudors. Snappy tagline I gotta say: The Original Crime Family.

Both premiers are 2 hours long. I have high hopes.

It just occurred to me, AMC is probably running The Killing over and over through the night and I can tape both shows if I wish. It turns out that is true.

Always enjoyed Jeremy Irons! Probably watch with the Mrs tonight!

I watched the 2-hour premier of The Killing. It looks pretty good.

It is basically a police procedures show - but slicker and more stylish than say Law and Order. It had a couple of very effective moments.

I'm sure I read that the main detective has some kind of empathic/lie-detection abilities but that hasn't shown up yet. I guess they are working the angle subtly.

It's not totally blowing me away - there were a few mis-steps - but the whodunnit aspect is working and I'll keep watching.

We watched the second week of Mildred Pierce last night on HBO! Interesting show set during the Great Depression and I think it ends next week. MrsM told me she fell asleep partly through the Borgias when it was on again late last night! Was kinda slow probably why she fell asleep!

I started watching The Borgias while eating dinner. An hour in, it looks interesting enough.

I seriously doubt they are being conscientious with the historical accuracy but it seems like a pleasantly trashy thing they've got going.

After viewing another episode, I am less enthusiastic. It's a pretty ordinary police procedures thing - like a 10 hour episode of Law and Order.

Coinflip if I will bother watching any more.
