In like the exotic wagers so I'm adding these combinations.

Tri's and Superfecta

so close.

Final result 1-7-3-5

Agreed. From a racing standpoint it was high quality. Some of those old match races are the best races. I bet the TV ratings are a series dip from other Preaknesses... The game is hurting
While thats nothing new, I feel like we're on the precipice of some major changes.

With the deaths the past three weeks, something has got to give. I know we went through something similar 4 years ago, but to have horses die on two major stages may put a harsher spotlight on the situation.

I’d love to see a revival of match races

First time probably in years MrsM and I didn't watch either of first two TC legs. If you didn't mention above wouldn't remember there were any. Don't know how they come about but think people would be very interested like for a big boxing match. Nice suggestion Casp!

What's coming?

Some kind of consolidation. Die off of California racing? Limited circuit in Florida? Foal crop dropping below 15k?

Changes to the product as well. Only focusing on boutique meets like Saratoga and Keenland and Marquee events like the triple crown races. These are what's profitable. The TC schedule has to change as well - one Derby horse in the Preakness is a terrible look. Gotta space it out more so the public can see the same horses throughout.

Changes to regulation are already underway with HISA. But they'll continue to evolve. Zero tolerance drug penalties? Removal of the riding crop? All translates to higher cost for the trainers, owners and track operators which drives them out of the game and leads back to part one - consolation.
