A few months ago I started a multi-phase plan towards writing a novel. Fairly certain it will be in the fantasy and/or sci-fi space.

Phase 1: Read 21 fiction books (19 books, 2 novellas). Have five books and one novella to go.

Phase 2: Read 5 non-fiction crafting books (3 on world building, 2 on novel writing).

Phase 3: Analysis and Brainstorming

Phase 4: Write the Novel

Phase 5: Edit the Novel

I can imagine most GameLivers will be supportive of my venture, but reading an entire novel is a huge time and effort commitment. Plus it has to actually turn out decent for those brave enough to take on the task to complete it, because who the hell wants to read a bad novel cover to cover?

This is a tough one to set a line on. I feel pretty good about the OVER 0.5 GameLivers. Would be hopefully optimistic on the OVER 1.5 GameLivers. I feel like OVER 2.5 GameLivers is probably too ambitious.

Feels like the thing you're not considering is time to completion and the makeup of Gamelive at that time. Based on your phases we're looking at at least 2 years?

Gamelive might be totally different. Sure Matty will be here but will it be in an active Casper cycle? Speaking of cycles, what will Matty be into? Maybe he'll be 100% all about a minimalist life style with the exception of collecting vintage tiddlywinks (its all the rage) and thus can't own a book.

Tron will be busy touring, and Tully caught up with his campaign (MA state assembly). You'll have Mudcat, but he's unaware the novel exists since he's got you on ignore, and Juror telling some AI companion that he invented to give him a synopsis doesn't count. I'll say I'll read it but that's a lie.

That leaves Blitty and...? I'll take over .5 but under 1.5 unless you count yourself and were including non true Gamelivers.

Davey, I only asked you guys to listen to a couple of 4 minute songs. A novel is tough!

In all seriousness, I'm not an avid reader. I occasionally read books about the history of a band (I read Bono's memoir lol Matty).

Can I read the Cliffs Notes and we call us even?

Also, I enjoy Dave's long posts 92% of the time.

This is a fantastic breakdown.

I actually believe it may be less than two years. I thought Phase 1 would take a long time but since I got my Kindle I'm mowing through books. Should be starting mine within a few months. How long P4 and P5 will take, no idea.

But yeah, current roster of GameLivers, I have Roguey as my one for sure because he's immortal and the ultimate GLsuperfriend. Casper and Matty live for sure. Then maybe a dark horse like Blitty emerges as well.

There's dingo and mister monkey, retired with NOTHING to do all day but eat
I can't imagine a scenario in which MrM read my book. He'd probably assume it was liberal propaganda, and when the protagonist seeked out the Sword of Binding to take down Zorlak the World Eater, he'd throw the book down in disgust that the Sword of Binding was communism and Zorlak was an unfair representation of Trump.
