The double standards and selective outrage of these champions of free expression is so nauseating.

Charlie Hebdo's work is satire but Dieudonne's comedian act is considered anti-semitic. His shows have been banned and the French courts have upheld the bans. A few years back, the same Charlie Hebdo fired a cartoonist/writer following the furor over an article deemed to be anti-semitic. Holocaust denial is a crime in France under the Gayssot Act but the French courts has ruled it can't be extended to Armenian genocide denial because it would be unconstitutional for impeding the freedom of speech. In the last few years, a French journalist and a politician have been fined by the courts for using derogatory words about Arabs and Africans.

It's time for all these hypocrites (in France and all over the world) to have the balls to make it free-for-all when it comes to freedom of speech.

Dieudonne: “After this historic, no legendary, march... a magic moment equal to the Big Bang which created the Universe... or in a smaller (more local) way comparable to the crowning of the (ancient Gaullish king) Vercingtorix, I am going home. Let me say that this evening, as far as I am concerned, I feel I am Charlie Coulibaly.”

The message generated a wave of indignant csomments (sic) on social media and tweets and was referred to the French police. It was removed from Dieudonn’s page after a few hours.

You're either for peace and respecting other cultures or you want to disrespect and demean.
I'm fascinated how they are able to play these things together. We abhorre violence but we have the right to demean others with impunity. And we expect the result to lead to peace. :bennyhill:
I suspect it's not about what you believe for these people but it being a symbol of who they are and disrespecting through their culture history which leads to their dismemberment. Lots of issues at play.

These people kill if you make a picture of Mohammad in a good light also. There is nothing wrong with satire. They don't respect what the masses want when they come over to civilized countries also.

There was a interview with a couple of the rad Islamists in England on 60 Minutes around thanksgiving. They were totally disgusted that a woman was interviewing them. They were also offended that she wasn't fully covered like their women. I understand when outsiders go to their land, their customs should be respected. They don't show the same when going to other places, especially when they are calling it their new home.
 
So let's look at this another way.

In America if there's a shooting what is the first thing liberals do? Blame the gun. Ok.

In France if there's a shooting what is the first thing liberals do? Blame the cartoon. Ok.

So what's the one thing they don't blame in either scenario?

The criminal.
 
By the way, I don't give a fuck about either political party in this country because they are both self serving I'm just pointing out an obvious fallacy. These cartoons are obviously offensive, and they are meant to be. But polite speech does not need protection. We all freely engage in polite speech. It is offensive speech that needs protection. It's actually ironically enough the exact same argument most liberals made about why pornography was a freedom of speech issue in the 70's and 80's.

It's a question of laws. But you can't litigate good taste. I agreed with them then, and I disagree with them now.
