My new neighbour is trying to claim 2 feet of my property

I'm in a vicious mood tonight. I have a new neighbour to my right. They are claiming that they own about 2' of my property and now I have to fork out $$$ to get a lawyer to tell them to get the fuck lost. Fuck I am angry!!
 
Holy fuck. That neighbour was gone a year ago 3 days ago. I'll never forget the time she told me about my chimney. I couldn't believe a human being could be that inconsiderate especially knowing I had 2 young children in my house. And it was Xmas eve for fuck sakes.
 
Pucky, you don't need a lawyer. Call you building department of you city and have them check the records. They will come out and establish your property boundaries. In most cases they will do this for free even.

I work for a municipality and we do this sort of thing all the time.

I have my property boundaries already, but for some reason the new neighbours want to widen their driveway and they claim that they mysteriously own 2 feet of my property. This shit is going to get messy. I'm also refinancing and my lawyer can't complete the paperwork for the bank until this shit gets taken care of. The lawyer told me that I may need to get my property surveyed which costs $1750. Getting my property surveyed is just like getting my neighbours to the right and left surveyed as well because they can then take the markers from my property and mark out their own boundary property based on my survey.
 
Not when you have a family Breadly. If you are young and single it could be a nice revenue generator as you can take in roomies which basically pay your mortgage and you could get to live for free while building equity.
 
on the refi papers there is a check box about knowing if someone is squatting or someone using your land. Since this came up the lawyer wants to deal with it first. He actually expects to have the paperwork to be done for the refi tomorrow, but he said that the new owners causing issues is something that I will have to take care of regardless. He already started the process and sent them my plot/boundary plans etc. and I started using the 4 feet that I own on the side of my house to establish true ownership and to send a message. It's going to be interesting that's for sure.

It sounds like a royal pain in the ass but that your lawyer is doing a damn good job.

I hope that your rate on your refi is not affected.
 
Pucky, I just text's my golfing buddy who owns a surveying company cause the price you suggested seemed way high. I figured your lawyer quoted you that price and he was hosing you. My buddy agrees that if it came from the lawyer then he is inflating it but also said there are many variables and it all boils down to the legal description required that it could range from $350 to $1500.
