Focker not to derail your thread, at least not so early but have you read The Godfather of Poker: Doyle Brunson?

I am just wrapping it up and while I enjoy all the back stories and the memories it's hard not to think there is much embellishing going on.

I enjoyed Hanson's "Every Hand Revealed" not so much for strategic reasons but more out of curiousity.

Harringtons cash and touney books and Largays LLNL books helped me out back in the day.

MF'r, did you have a mentor? How did you develop your play early on?

I bought it and made it halfway through before quitting. I'm sure this and others like it can really help but I just don't have the patience or focus.

Archie's not so calm strike?

No doubt

I racked my brain to come up with a facebook chat/message/text message/phone call/skype or real life talk I had to reference and bring up here for everyone to see....for some fun harmless banter for entertainment sake.

alas,

I didn't have what it takes

me no pot stirring pro

I learned on my own actually. I started out figuring out the probabilities of draws and determining pot odds, essentially what people call playing "by the book" these days. After a short time, they are easily memorized. Then, I progressed into making reads and making plays against weakness. As I built my bankroll and increased stakes, the games became harder and harder. That's where your game becomes complete and you learn how to vary your play. For example, if I raise now, I might be raising with AA or 47 suited. A vastly larger range is essential in higher stakes.
