I have no clue how you run out of gas. I came close in Iowa once, driving cross country, when I got off an exit at around 3 am looking for gas. I found a gas station, they were closed and didn't have an after hours atm thing at the pump. I drove about 30 miles out of my way and finally found one.

my old roommate used to run out of gas once a month. he never checked his gas.

Got a new (different) car a month ago. Ran out of gas twice in it. I hate this car.

Once was at a verrrrry busy intersection. Other was in middle of causeway on way home from airport. Had to walk 3 miles in 90+ degree heat. Hungover as hell, wearing jeans.

I died a bit that day.

Before this car, I ran out probably 3 times total in my 22 years of driving.

never,
STBX has run out many times, she would test how far she could drive with the gas light on.

dont understand folks that put $5 worth of gas in their vehicle either.

had a few employees that I had to loan gas money to before payday so they could get to work and home

Definitely drunks

and druggies... I've heard/seen it all in my line of work.

This happened last weekend, btw. I died a little that day, too. But I took some neat pictures.

I have a hazy memory of running out of gas once when I was ~16 but not since then.

I had a friend in high school who got a new car and said he was going to let it run out of gas once on purpose - so he would know how to judge his gas gauge and how far below empty he could go.

I'll always remember that. I can even see a zany kind of logic to it - but my general philosophy is to not play chicken in that way.

I once worked with a painting crew, and I was the only one who had a license. The owner used to give me his truck, and I would pick up the crew in the morning. One more the whole crew ended up in jail. The owner got arrested on trespassing and assault, one guy got arrested for trying to buy crack off an undercover prostitute, and another guy arrested for driving without a license.
