First you complain that Atlanta shouldn't have a team at all. Then you people complain when we send one back to your country after all your whining. Make up your mind.

I am excited for the rebirth of the Jets. One of the coolest team name/logos in sports!

Sorry Pucky but I'm against you on this one! As soon as I heard it I said to myself great. The light went out on the Flames and so be it with the Thrashers!

IMO can't force teams to markets just because they have millions of people living there? Winnipeg has nothing and can't imagine them not being supportive of this team?

Here's what I heard one guy on a sports talk radio said when the news of moving to Winnipeg first surfaced. Back when the dollar was worth a lot more than Canadian currency the NHL for money purposes wanted to move these guys somewhere in the US. Now with the dollar being worthless, it might be profitable to move back to Canada? Don't know finances at all to know how much this could play into it?

Here's some attendance figures from 1990 on! Yes, Winnipeg had some low numbers but Atlanta has lost interest with this team again! Get rid of the Islanders too IMO! I heard that arena is a shithole too?

Whining.....surely you jest my buddy Blitty.

Winnipeg only seats 15K. They need to add another 4K seats and sell private boxes to make this work. It's not going to happen in The Peg Blit.

I think Seattle (if they had an NHL arena) woudl have made a great choice. BUT Hamilton woudl be better. In fact I think the NHL shoudl be back in Quebec city well before a team in Winnipeg.

I feel snarly today. Not sure what it is, but I think this dog shit stuff has me all riled up. I just feel really aggresive and ready to fucking snap.

Mr.M I like you. Much like how Blitty feels about me, I 'm not sure what it is, but I feel that you're a cool dood.

Now on to bid'nis.

The value of the Can $ had a ton to do with the of the Jets back in the 90's. Players were paid in U.S. $$$. Now Winnipeg has a new arena, but it only seats 15K. Winnipeg I hear is a major shithole like Detroit, but Winnipeg has a ton of native indian panhandlers and thugs around the downtown area. NHL in Winnipeg again will fail within 10 years. You need to have at least a sold out arena at MAX tricket prices in order to meet the new Cap floor and this will be a challenge for Winnipeg. In order to sell out 15K seats the team will have to jack up prices to the point where no one will want to pay over $100 for nosebleeds.

Fok Quebec City if the private sector is just going to mooch off public funds again. There are enough rich businessmen to pay for a new arena. Winnipeg deserves a shot - I think the CAD being so strong now is the main reason they have a shot at making it work.

I was watching TV news and they were talking about how some people in Atlanta were protesting the loss of the team. They cut to some footage and there was like 18 people. It was pretty funny.

I am very pleased about the team returning to Winnipeg. Apparently there is some question if they will be called the Jets. I feel they should be called the Jets (but if they decide on something else, I'm sure I'll get used to it in 6.3 seconds.)

Dollar, fan base and cap make it workable now.

Surprised you feel that way Pucky. You feel there should be a professional hockey team in Atlanta?

If Atlanta was selling out then I'd have no problem with it, but Winnipeg is doomed to fail Teamer. I'd rather see the NHL back in Quebec city and you likely know how I feel about the hard core frenchie separatists. Winnipeg will have a tough time moaking money while meeting the cap floor. UNless of course Bettman is waiving the requirement for all teams to meet with cap floor.

Place looks lovely to me!

I mean how could you expect fans to keep coming to a place built in 1955?

In the interim, the idea of Winnipeg one day returning to the NHL has gained momentum. In response to this, many questions have arisen about the MTS Centre's potential suitability to host an NHL team. At its current hockey capacity of 15,003, it would be the smallest home arena in the NHL, well below the current smallest—the New York Islanders' Nassau Coliseum--which seats 16,234.

A potential ownership group has emerged, and a number of journalists have identified David Thomson and True North chairman Mark Chipman as its principals. Chipman has stated that the arena's current size is sufficient for an NHL team due to its unique economics. Further supporting the viability of the arena is the reported attendance figures of many struggling teams average below the MTS Centre's capacity. Eight teams or over 26% of the league had lower attendance than the MTS Centre's capacity through the 2010-11 NHL season.

Place seems to be a hotbed for all kinds of events?

In 2008, the MTS Centre sold 385,427 tickets. These ticket sales included only non-sporting events and did not include hockey games. With the tickets sales the MTS Centre placed as the 19th busiest arena in the world. The arena sat as 11th busiest among facilities in North America, its highest ranking ever, and it remained in the 3rd spot in Canada, after the Bell Centre in Montreal (sixth worldwide) and the Air Canada Centre in Toronto (fifth worldwide). For the year of 2009 it ranked as the 39th busiest arena in the world, and 26th busiest in North America.

Bring back the Jets! Bring back the Jets!

This video IMO is God saying the Jets belong in Winnipeg?

Well Detroit should move back to the east and Atl to the west. That would be awesome, but even better would be bringing back the names of the old divisions.

The NHL hasn't been the same since that dumb fox glowing puck deal and the renaming of the old divisions.

Winnipeg's actually not that bad of a shithole. I spent a lot of time there until I turned 25 as it's the largest Canadian city within driving distance from my hometown.

It's a major hub for concerts, sports, all arty stuff, etc for Northwestern Ontario. It's either that or cross the border and head to Minneapolis.

I think this is an awesome idea and I'd be very surprised if it failed.

They've already lost their team once. I can't sure how 'peggers and people in the region will let it happen again.
