Pond of Death Foiled Again
My morning at work started out like any other morning. I come in, take down some recorder readings, check that things are in order, check pH and Cl2 residuals, check GameLive and then run the daily games and post the Durito Plays. That is my morning routine 5 days a week at work.
Today after the morning routine I decided to go out and mow. As I am out by the effluent pond mowing I notice something moving on the surface. Now the pond has a layer of duckweed that we all but got rid of last year but re-germinated this spring and has just gone wild with growth. Upon further inspection it turns out to be a bird of some sort. I cant make out what kind because it is covered in the duckweed.
If you remember the Pool Screener of Life suffered some serious damage after saving the fox and while there were a few rips in the screener I figured there would be enough left to save a bird.
As it turns out the bird was a crow. Some people call them blackbirds, some people call them ravens, I call them crows. Pretty much a useless bird by in large but it is still a living creature and while I am no posters child for the National Wildlife Society I cant let something suffer and die if there is something I can do about it.
I got the crow out but he was so covered in the duckweed he couldnt really move. So I got him washed off and clean and am happy to report he is doing just fine.
Makes me wonder how many critters the Pond of Death claims when Im not out there mowing though.
If you are looking for some sort of sign to correlate with a game prediction I guess you could say birds of a feather and go with Baltimore Oriels tonight. Course the football team are the Ravens so there is that. Plus it doesnt hurt that Baltimore is 13-7 the last 20 head to head with Chicago.
