Connor McDavid would seem to be that pick. He's 18.

Crosby is 28 and a Stanley Cup winner, MVP, scoring champ, multi Olympic Gold medalist...

No. McDavid is an unknown quantity in the NHL. Crosby is probably past his peak, but he's the type of player who will be immensely useful as he ages.

I don't think Pittsburgh would improve much with a McDavid, even assuming that he develops into a Crosby.

So no.

As Machu said, McDavid is an unknown. Yep,he's good. Really good in Jr., but there are many players who have been drafted high who have flopped. To be honest, between McDavic the Eichel, I would say that Eichel would be a flopped based on his unspired play at the World JR tourney. Kid was invisible and certainly didn't make players around him better players.

Unfortunately a large part of the discussion has to be ---> concussions.

It would be a tougher call without the Crosby concussion situation.

The way the lottery works, a team pretty close to making the playoffs could end up with the #1 pick. They might be more interested in swapping a mega-prospect for Crosby than Buffalo and whatnot.

Not that anybody is seriously talking about this trade anyway.
