Can anyone here remember the plot of the first episode of Cheers?

We have a new channel that started today and I'm watching it right now. This show used to be looped 24hrs a day in my mom's office and I swear I've never seen this one before.

was sam gonna lose his bar?

did that love interest of his come in wondering off the streets? the character played by the shelly chick? wasn't she like stranded in new york and just got dumped or somthing? and sam gave her a job? Sam's hair would have been brown.

Ooh, you are very close. Sam had just recently opened his bar - to the point where only 2 people would yell "Norm" when the namesake walked in and some guy you'd probably recognise tried to order a beer even though he was probably 15yo. According to the dialogue, this was in 1982 for fok sake.

Diane (Shelley) came in with her Professor and they were due to get married in Barbados the next day after he proposed to her a few hours earlier. He insisted that he needed to get his family heirloom wedding ring off of his ex so he left Diane at the bar while he retrieved the ring. Carla had Brilo pad pubey hair. Cliff's first fact was about female sweat glands being smaller than that of a male (I think). The Prof came back and was confused because he realised he loved his ex still. Diane convinced him that they should still get married so he went off to retrieve the luggage. After a few hours, it became glaringly obvious that the Prof wasn't returning even though Diane kept ignoring Sam's suggestion of the same thing. Diane finally called the travel agent to confirm the flight and learned that the Prof had already left for Barbados with his ex. Sam then offered her a job since she obviously could no longer be a Prof's assistant but Diane initially laughed until she accidentally rattled off a long order Carla had placed to Sam and nailed it.

Sam's hair was auburn.

It is now the first episode of Mork and Mindy. Many good memories of this show, including my obsession with sleeping upside down in my bed because I was convinced it would make me have special Mork powers.
