what stat do you consider most important? Like if you are doing a sort at a site like Fangraphs and you want to see the teams lined up best to worst, what column would you sort?

AVG?

OBP?

SLG?

One of those other columns that I don't even know what they are?

I kind of lean towards on base percentage but I am curious about other thoughts, particularly about those columns that I don't know what they are.

this is what I'm talking about

I learn towards OBP, but i am moneyball kind of guy,

I am a big fan of BB/K. I like to know how many pitches a team takes per bat. Strikeouts are not always bad because it means the pitcher is throwing more pitches. I use this stat to gauge when I think a bullpen will become a factor in a game.

All 3 I mix in probably equally with avg and slg top 2. No time to break down each category to see the teams, top to bottom for each one. Then how do you weight each category on importance? Fangraphs I like in seeing how each starting pitcher looks in detail.

Good info. I notice the offenses do stack up pretty close to the same no matter which major category you pick. Still it is a discussion worth having.

I'm surprised how high the Orioles offense is rated. They have quite a few more unders than overs (although the gap is not as wide as it was awhile ago). They must have outstanding pitching to make those UNDERs happen.

Seriously WTF is going on with that?

Maybe I don't even want to know.

Or just high totals.

OPS

but you really gotta consider everything. I think team speed/baserunning is starting to become a more important aspect of offenses this year in the big power outage

I wanted to focus more on defense and bullpens this year, but that hasn't gone so well..... while Defensive statisics, zone ratings ect are getting alot better... they still are enough
