So my Vizio 60" TV from last year (Feb) has this huge vertical green line now running down the length of the entire set. The warranty ran out (was 1 year) and from what I have read online this is not uncommon to happen not only with Vizio TV's but with other brands as well. The summation of what I read in a nut shell said it's either dead pixels (and you're fucked) or you need to get inside the TV to fix it and it should be done by a repair tech who knows what they are doing and can run around 600 bucks. Fuck that noise.

So we are in the market for a new television. And it seems like a good time of year to buy last year's model.

Would like to stay under 1K if possible.

I have no idea the particular model since not in the market for one but have 3 Samsungs 40-46" range with 2 models identical and probably would buy only a Samsung when the time comes! Going from past research I did when purchasing the TVs, Sony came in a close second! The TVs are I think LCDs but the new ones that are taken over, are LED? I think?

The 55" in our living room is a JVC, I don't recall the price of it, but we have had for two years now and it's still in great condition.
My tv in the bedroom is a Vizio, had that one for like three or four years and no issues. I also have my tv's and other electronic items set on power save mode so that after so long of inactivity, they turn off themselves. Probably not much help, but that's all I can offer.
