What items do you need for a proper car hand wash?

I have never hand washed my car. I know I need a hose and a bucket but what else do I need?

Depends how dirty it is really.

In addition to what others posted, it doesn't hurt to have some rim cleaner if you're going to hand wash. Brake dust can be a bitch to hand wash off without it.

2 buckets- 1 for clean car wash water, other for rinsing out the dirt from sponge
dont use dish soap. it strips the wax off if theres any left???
micro fiber sponge = no swirl marks or less chance of them
micro fiber dry towel = no swirl marks " "
use open hose, no nossle to rinse soap off car... let water sheet off car = less water marks and less drying needed


or just pay a reputable car wash place $10-$15 and sit in the AC while they wash it
