Biggio and Damon stat numbers seem to be a wash now that i look at them in detail! Perception had me thinking Biggio a way better play instead of just a slightly more significant one! If Biggio gets in then I guess Damon should get in if he reaches 3000!

Biggo's numbers pretty significantly surpass Damon's MrM...as I've painfully chronicled in this thread. Not to mention the 4 gold gloves and 5 silver sluggers....and the mastering of 3 completely different positions over his career.

but here's the thing...
you don't compare Biggio's body of work against Damon's....
that is the whole point that people miss...
you compare Biggio's vs HOF 2nd-basemen (with a bit of catch catch and cf in there) and against his contemporary 2nd basemen....
you compare Damon's stats against OF-ers.... good luck making a case for him being noteworthy as a guy that only played half his career in CF ( a hard position to get in as well)
also
players do spend more time fielding their position then they do hitting...... why not look and compare the apples and oranges of damon vs biggio stats in the field as well?
do you always overlook so much?

I would lean towards expecting Jeff Kent to make the Hall of Fame. He is one of the best hitting second basemen ever. He even won an MVP.

3000 hits gets you in. It has always been that way and will continue to be that way. Unless you've been caught juicing or gambling. It is as simple as that and I thought most people understood that. I mean ffs Wage Boggs is in the hall.

Archie, that's partially my point as well. Biggio surpasses Damon's offensive production in every way and Biggio played the majority of his career at a typically weaker offensive position.
