West Side Story

Watched it for my thousandth time today. Musicals help when I write. This one is fabulous.

I much prefer Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo & Juliet.

West Side Story is widely considered a classic but it is not a personal favorite of mine. I think it is some combination of the dorky ballet, and Natalie Wood's distracting attempt at an accent and the fact they decided to change the original ending. I guess they figured they knew more about drama than Shakespeare.

I do like some of the music though. Somewhere is a beautifully constructed song.

Not to mention she was lip-syncing all of her songs. In a musical. Just terrible.
