We havent even completed the first week of games and if you have peeked you already know that there are some really meaningful match-ups in next weeks card. So lets take a moment to look at some of these potentially make or break games.
What follows are not official plays, just some early thought about the games this coming week.

(23)Auburn @ Mississippi St
There are those around SEC country that think that Auburn not Alabama will represent the SEC West in the Conference Title game. That thinking may be more wishful thinking than actual thought but if you listen you will hear talk. Even those that are ready to give the division nod to Alabama admit that Auburn is probably the 2nd best team in the west. I personally think that a team that will cause much havoc this season for teams in both divisions is Mississippi St and we get the party started this Thursday.
Auburn is coming off an season opening win over Arkansas St 52-26 in a game where Florida transfer Cameron Newton set a school record by a quarterback, rushing for 171 yards on 15 carries. In fact it was one of the best all around performances in school history as Newton accounted for 357 of the 608 total yards of offense.
Mississippi St opened their season with a dominating 49-7 victory over Memphis. The Bulldogs ended up with 568 yards of total offense and had a 49-0 lead before eventually allowing Memphis to get something on the scoreboard.
This will be a game of who imposes their will over their opponent. If Auburn is allowed to set the tempo and keep it at a hectic pace things could get out of hand. I tend to think Mississippi St will be able to slow the game down, play physical and grind it out. If the Bulldogs dont turn the ball over and sustain drives in order to eat up the clock and are able to force a turnover or two, I look for a low scoring 3-4 point game with Mississippi St having a shot at the outright win. I havent seen a line yet but if I am given a touchdown or better this game will get a serious look.

(21)Georgia @ South Carolina
What a potentially great game. Georgia is loaded with talent and star receiver AJ Green should be back on the field this week. But as of yet I havent found confirmation. South Carolina has its on players who were suspended for the opening game and most could be ready to go for Georgia.
Regardless of players who might or might not play this game has so much potential to be a good old fashion slobberknocker. In the past 10 meetings only 3 times has the game been decided by more than 7 points and the majority by 6 or less. More often than not its been a low scoring game and Im inclined to think that potential is a real possibility yet again.
One thing you are all but guaranteed when these two teams get together are penalties. Both teams play aggressive and with aggression comes over aggression and mental mistakes.
As with all the games in this preview I have no line information at the time of this writing but I expect Georgia to be a small favorite and I also would imagine a total in the neighborhood of 45. Certainly potential for a high scoring game but I am leaning towards a 17-13 type game with South Carolina edging out the Bulldogs

(20)Florida St @ (8) Oklahoma
I didnt get an opportunity to watch either of these teams in their opening games. So I really cant say for sure if FSU is as dominant as their performance just as much as I cant know for sure if Oklahoma pulled light down the stretch to save health for this weeks game.
Ive already predicted FSU was a serious ACC Title contender this season if they were able to harness all that talent into disciplined play. There is no question that the Noles posses an enormous amount of athletic ability and they also have something that has proven to give Oklahoma troubles in the past, flat out speed.
If Florida St can manage to limit their mistakes, stay disciplined and play assignment football this game has real potential to be a great contest and the Noles could very well beat the Sooners. However if Oklahoma doesnt create their own turnovers and takes advantage of FSU mistakes or missed assignments then the Sooners get the win.

Michigan @ Notre Dame
My least favorite of the big games this weekend. Im not a fan of either school nor do I really care for either coach.
Without really putting much effort into this game and without even a clue as to what the line is, my initial instincts are that Michigan will win this game somewhere around 27-17.

(13)Miami @ (2)Ohio St
Its rare that I get excited about teams I dont care for but this game just has WOW written all over it.
There are high expectations for both these schools this year and rightfully so. Miami is a very real contender to win the ACC and many if not most expect Ohio St will again win the Big Ten. Regardless of what is expected what we have here is a potentially amazing game.
This is another game where the arguably better will be the underdog. Miami has the skill players and the speed to win this game but at the same time they have the ability to get caught up in the hype and take a good old fashioned wood shedder as well.
Very interested in seeing what the line on this game is when it comes out. Excited but I doubt it will matter much. Expect Ohio St to be a 3-5 point favorite and if Miami makes the mistakes they are capable of making the line wont count as Ohio St will beat them 10+. If however, Miami plays up to their potential and stays mentally focused the line still wont matter and Miami will win this game by 13+. Basically this game comes down to which Miami team shows up.

Big name teams but not a lot of excitement for me. I doubt very seriously I will put much time into capping this game when the lines come out even. Sure, ranked teams and potential good game, just one I have no enthusiasm for.
