Well I was disappointed to see that for the wii the rating for 2k11 went from an 8.5 last year to 5.5 this year. I have always been a dude who likes the best simulation possible when it comes to hocky game. Because I fucking love hockey. But this year's 2k game supposedly has a glitch where wristers don't work quite right. I am all about wristers, so I decided to take a leap of faith on EA Sport's 1st hocky effort for the Wii: NHL Slapshot because really how do you develop a problem with wristers after having such a great game last year. I really wished EA had come out with their usual simulation for the Wii. I heard it's awesome for the PS3. They did not though they came out with this game, NHL Slapshot, with Wayne Gretzky on the cover.

The review for it was very solid. Said it was extremely fun and would seem like it is for kids at first which it did some, but also it said to hang in there as an adult as it is good for us too. The packaging really turned me off. And I was not excited about the fact that you play it with an actual hockey stick going in.

Actually playing it very quickly changed my mind. The league format is called "peewee to pro" and I was picturing some gay ass shit playing as your mii. Not the case. You can play as any pro you want and like a lot of others I was not excited about the prospect of having to be any one player.

But shit man, this thing is action packed. You always have something to do - from laying the lumber to Syd the Crybaby Kid to diving to block shots as Ovie is being an asshole to taking wristers and slappers to my favorite part - positioning yourself correctly as Mike Richards and calling for the one timer pass from Chris Pronger in real time and slapping it home for the game winner.

The controls are awesome. You hit people by raising the stick up and thrusting it forward in real; you have to wind up for a slapper.

The AI is pretty good, I wouldn't call it great. Be it that I have been playing hockey games religiously for about 15 years, I can see where the learning curve was easier for me than most but for me as Richards to have 17 goals with Gaborik being 2nd in the league with 11 is a little absurd. Still though you have goals throughout the season given to your GM - number of goals, assists, to accomplish. I do tip my hat to me being 7-2-1 despite all the bashing I just did about the AI. That is a very Flyers like record and I'm still not sure how it beat me twice so pretty good despite my inflated stats.

I give the game a 9 out of 10 rating only with a point off because if I am beating it handily now I don't want to think about a month from now.

If you are a gamer, you have a wii and you are looking for some solid hockey action I throroughly recommend this one for you.
