Before that, six teams are to face each other on first qualifying round ties on the 3rd and 10th of July, including a tie between Valletta FC and FC Lusitans with the winners due to meet FK Partizan.

Linfield FC Preview

Belfast, North Ireland based club Linfield won their 51st Irish Premiership title by a massive 14-point margin last season with 85 points followed by Portadown at 71.Linfield FC dominated again as they took the league title by beating the Crusaders FC in the Irish Cup final to complete a sixth double in seven years.

On the 3rd of July they will face B36 Torshavn from the Faroe Island during the first leg of the Champions League. When compared to the opposing team, Linfield has a much richer history with a considerable amount of achievements. Mostly, however, the championsips were domestic and restricted within the Irish League. Nevertheless, the North Ireland outfit has a strong attack formation thus overwhelming the opposing teams.

B36 Torshavn Preview

Founded in 1936 in the Faroe Island and based in its capital with the same name, B36 Torshavn has several achievements but pale in comparison against Linfield. Their recent triumphs include winning the Faroe Islands Premier League in 2011, The Antlantic Cup in 2006, and the Faroe Island Super Cup in 2006.

B36 were drawn against AvenirBeggenin the Champions League Qualifying round in 1992. They went close but didn't make it through to the first round after a 1-0 loss and a 1-1 at home in the second leg. During the 2005-2006 Champions, the team reached the second round after defeating BV Vestmannaeyar of Iceland 3-2 on aggregate. In the second round they narrowly lost to Danish Superliga-club FC Midtjylland 1-2 in the away leg and drew 2-2 at home. The team reached the second qualifying round of the UEFA ChampionsLeague in 2006-2007season after defeating Birkirkara FC of Malta5-2 on aggregate and were eliminated in second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, losing both matches to Fenerbahe 4-0 and 5-0.

Linfield FC vs B36 Torshavn Predictions: F91 Dudelange 2-0

Both teams demonstrate talent and power in their own right. It is difficult to predict the winner of the first leg for the records show an equality in strength. We will just have to wait and see on 3 July 2012.

Spanish La Liga 2012 Preview: Athletic Bilbao vs Valladolid Predictions

Can Athletic Bilbao hold on to the lead in this match against Valladolid?. Let's see when they go head to head this weekend. Catch real time updates on your favorite Spanish La Liga Match.

Athletic Bilbao Preview

We know know the Athletic Bibao can put points on the board. The only problem is they can give up some easy points as well. Real Betis recovered from squandering a 3-0 half-time lead to seal all three points in a 5-3 victory over Athletic Bilbao at San Mames thanks to two goals from Jorge Molina and others from Ruben Castro, Benat Extebarria and Alex Pozuelo.

The visitors had flown into a 3-0 lead after just half an hour thanks to calm finishes from Castro and Molina were followed up by a wonderful strike by Benat.

But it was Athletic who stormed out of the traps after half-time when Oscar de Marcos reduced the arrears within 60 seconds of the restart.

Mikel San Jose then twice headed home from corners to bring the Basque side level but Betis were back in front four minutes later as substitutes Jose Canas and Pozuelo combined to allow the latter to slot home.

And with the Athletic defence all at sea, another fine counter-attack from the visitors saw Jonathan Pereira release Molina to seal the points with a delicate chip over Gorka Iraizoz.

With Javi Martinez and Fernando Llorente looking set to leave Athletic before the end of the month, both Spanish internationals were left out by Marcelo Bielsa and their presence was missed as Betis soaked up Athletic's dominance in possession and broke with ease in the first period.

Valladolid Preview

Olympiacos in 2008, was the match-winner, scoring towards the end of the first half to earn the visitors the three points.

They could even afford to miss a second half penalty, with Victor Perez Alonso missing the target.

The hosts survived the drop by just two points last season and look like they could be in for a similarly tough campaign after failing to create many chances.

Neither side imposed themselves on the game early on with Helder Postiga's tame 15th-minute effort the first on target, easily saved by Jaime, with the goalkeeper denying Apono two minutes later.

Oscar had the visitors' best chance of the early stages but from 12 yards out shot over.

The visitors were in the ascendancy and should have taken the lead after 35 minutes but Javi Guerra's volley from six yards went wide of the left post.

However Valladolid were not to be denied and broke through with seconds of the first half remaining as Omar Ramos played in Oscar who stroked the ball home from six yards.

Realising his team needed to show a lot more creativity in the second period, Zaragoza coach Manolo Jimenez brought on Jose Mari for Romaric at the break.

Athletic Bilbao vs Valladolid Predictions: Athletic Bilbao 2-1 over Valladolid

Bilbao high octane offense might be just too much to handle for Valladolid. Im sure the that loss put a bitter taste in their mouths and well see a much better match against Valladolid.

Spanish La Liga 2012 Preview: Levante vs Espanyol Predictions

Levante looks to continue their dominance in their next match against Espanyol. Catch real time updates on your favorite Spanish La Liga Match.

Levante Preview

Levante makes an example out of Motherwell defeats them 2-0. Levante, who finished sixth in La Liga last season after briefly topping the table in late October, pushed Motherwell back in the first half but they were gifted a 42nd-minute opener as Juanlu ran from deep to net as the home defence waited for an offside flag.

Motherwell improved significantly and Henrik Ojamaa had two good chances but the visitors carved out a second for substitute Nabil El Zhar in the 62nd minute and killed the game off before Hutchinson was dismissed for a last-man challenge.

Levante were making their European debut without Senegal midfielder Pape Diop, who was unable to secure a visa to enter the UK.

But they retained a very experienced and solid core, pinned together by central defenders David Navarro, formerly of Valencia, and their captain, 36-year-old Sergio Ballesteros.

Motherwell manager Stuart McCall had spoken of employing an "up and at 'em'' approach after Motherwell had their fair share of possession against Panathinaikos but lost 5-0 on aggregate to more clinical opponents.

There were more high balls than usual in the first half towards Michael Higdon, however Levante's two powerful centre-backs were helped out by the even more imposing figure of midfield anchor man Vicente Iborra as they snuffed out the threat.

Espanyol Preview

Helder Postiga left it late to earn Real Zaragoza a first win of the Primera Division season, sinking 10-man Espanyol 2-1 at the El Prat.

In a bad-tempered encounter which saw eight players booked, Alvaro Vazquez lit the touchpaper by firing the hosts ahead with a screamer just before half-time.

Juan Albin received his marching orders for a second booking after the interval and Antonio Apono levelled the tie from the penalty spot.

A constant menace in the second half, Postiga chipped away at Espanyol's resolve and eventually got his reward two minutes from time to earn Real their first points of the season.

Despite a cagey start, Raul Rodriguez almost opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a header that required a touch more accuracy.

Albin then picked out Hector Moreno in good space in the 34th minute but the Mexican headed past the near post.

Moreno headed over the crossbar next as Espanyol pressed on, with the breakthrough coming in sensational fashion in the 43rd minute.

Mubarak Wakaso picked out Vazquez's run, the young striker drilling home from 20 yards without breaking stride.

Following the restart, Portugal international Postiga forced Cristian Alvarez to tip a daisycutter around the post before Los Blanquillos were handed the opportunity to level.

Albin, already booked for a challenge.

Levante vs Espanyol Predictions: Levante 2-1 over Espanyol

Combination of great offensive attack by Levante and depleted Espanyol team makes this an easy win for Levante

Spanish La Liga 2012 Preview: Real Madrid vs Granada CF Predictions

Real Madrid will look to avenge their recent loss and will look to take it out against Grenada. Catch real time updates on your favorite Spanish La Liga Match.

Real Madrid Preview

Madrid had won their last seven league meetings against Getafe and appeared set for another triumph when Gonzalo Higuain put them ahead in the 27th minute.

However, Getafe hit back in the second half to stun their star-studded opponents with goals from Juan Valera and Abdelaziz Barrada.

That completed a forgettable first week to the new campaign for Jose Mourinho's side, who started their title defence with a 1-1 home draw against Valencia last weekend before losing 3-2 to arch rivals Barcelona in the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa on Thursday.

Barca earlier tonight battled back from a half-time deficit to beat Osasuna 2-1 away but precisely the opposite happened to Madrid at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez and they now find themselves five points adrift of the leading sides in La Liga.

Few of the divisions big guns relish going to Getafe, who last season beat Barca, Valencia, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid at home, but Real have dominated their neighbours in recent years and looked on course for another victory midway through tonight's game.

Mourinho's men really have should have taken the lead in the 16th minute but Mesut Ozil somehow contrived to miss an open goal from five yards out.

Granada CF Preview

Sevilla came from behind with 10-men to claim a valuable point from the first Andalusian derby of the season - a 1-1 draw at Granada.

The visitors had goalkeeper Diego Lopez sent off just after the half-hour mark when he upended Antonio Floro Flores inside the area and, despite his replacement Andres Palop saving Guillherme Siqueira's penalty, Mikel Rico rattled in the rebound to give Granada the lead.

However, Alvaro Negredo headed home a minute before the break to bring Sevilla level and Michel's side defended relatively comfortably in the second half until a late flurry from the hosts saw Darwin Marchis head two golden opportunities over and Floro Flores hit the crossbar.

After a bright opening by both sides the turning point appeared to have arrived on 34 minutes when Floro Flores was played through on goal and was brought down by Lopez as he tried to round him.

The Italian striker certainly exaggerated the contact as he flopped to the ground, but there was contact and Lopez had to see red having denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Palop made a smart save to his right to repel Siqueira's powerful spot-kick but his defence didn't react and Rico was left free to fire in the rebound.

Real Madrid vs Granada CF Predictions: Real Madrid 4-1 over Grenada

Real Madrid will look to wipe that bitter taste out of their mouths and taking it out on Grenada. This will be real offensive display by Madrid.

Spanish La Liga 2012 Preview: Barcelona vs Valencia Predictions

Will Messi go ballistic over a weaker Valencia team? We'll find out Saturday in La Liga. Catch real time updates on your favorite Spanish La Liga Match.

Barcelona Preview

Lionel Messi scored twice in the last 15 minutes as Barcelona survived a scare against ten-man Osasuna to continue their winning start to the new season.

Osasuna beat Barcelona 3-2 in last season's corresponding fixture and the Catalan giants looked in danger of suffering another upset when Joseba Llorente volleyed the home side in front in the 17th minute tonight.

Striker Nino then had a great chance to double Osasuna's lead in the 70th minute, but he hit the post when clean through and 10 minutes later Barca were ahead and on their way to three points.

Messi, as has often been the case, was the spark behind the comeback, and he drew the teams level in the 75th minute when he stabbed home Alexis Sanchez's pass to finish off a move he himself had started with a trademark darting run.

Osasuna were aggrieved that goal was allowed to stand after Alexis had appeared to be offside when he received the ball earlier in the move, and the home side's veteran midfielder Patxi Punal was handed his marching orders for taking his protests too far.

Barca quickly made the most of their man advantage as, in the 80th minute, summer signing Jordi Alba picked out Messi near the edge of the area and the Argentina superstar rolled a low shot into the far corner for the match-winner.

The victory sees Barca move onto six points after two games in La Liga, while they also won the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa against Real Madrid on Thursday.

Valencia Preview

Deportivo La Coruna came from two goals down to claim a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Mestalla.

Roberto Soldado had fired Valencia into an early 2-0 lead as he was twice brilliantly set up by Jonas, but Depor halved the deficit when Abel Aguilar bundled home from a corner seven minutes before half-time.

Sofiane Feghouli restored the hosts' two-goal lead before half-time with another wonderful finish from Dani Parejo's pass.

However, the visitors had much the better of the play after the break and after Aguilar had stroked home his second of the night, Pizzi equalised from the penalty spot as Ricardo Costa saw a second yellow card for barging into Riki.

Depor announced their return to the Primera Division with a 2-0 win over Osasuna on Monday night, but it was the hosts who seemed destined to get their first win on the board after some scintillating football saw them score twice in the first 28 minutes.

Barcelona vs Valencia Predictions: Barcelona 2-0 over Valencia

Messi will have his way in this game. Valencia will need to counter with a good defensive sound strategy but, I don’t think it will be enough to hold the Barcelona team

Spanish La Liga 2012 Preview: Real Betis vs Atletico Madrid Predictions

Real Betis and Atletico Madrid will go head to head in this classic match up. Catch real time updates on your favorite Spanish La Liga Match.

Real Betis Preview

Leo Baptistao scored his first senior goal for Rayo Vallecano as they continued their 100% start to the season with a 2-1 win at Real Betis.

The visitors went ahead within two minutes as Leo's cross was tapped home by Piti, but Betis responded immediately and Jorge Molina headed in his third goal of the campaign moments later.

However, despite withstanding an early Betis onslaught at the beginning of the second period, Rayo looked the more coordinated team throughout and deservedly got the winner on the hour mark when Lass Bangoura teed up Leo to rifle low past Fabricio in the Betis goal.

Both sides had got their campaign off to the perfect starts with wins in week one and both started quickly in this game too, with two goals arriving in the first four minutes.

Firstly, Leo burst down the left and after Fabricio failed to cut out his excellent ball into the middle Piti rolled the ball into the empty net.

Two minutes later though Betis were level when Benat's free-kick found Molina and his deflected effort looped over the helpless Ruben Martinez.

Atletico Madrid Preview

The hosts struck first when El Zhar stroked home from the edge of the area after just five minutes but brought Atleti level 15 minutes later with a stunning strike from distance that gave Gustavo Munua no chance.

The visitors then went on to dominate possession but lacked a cutting edge and it was Levante who came closest to a winner when Vicente Iborra's long-range effort came back off the top of the bar.

Levante were last season's surprise package, finishing sixth - their highest placing in Spanish football's top league.

And they started this campaign in enterprising fashion.

Jose Barkero's corner was cleared by Miranda but only as far as El Zhar - and the former Liverpool winger smashed the ball home to register his first goal for Los Granotes.

Atleti though responded well and after a sustained period of possession Arda made space for himself 25 yards from goal and arrowed the ball high into net.

Thereafter Atletico maintained possession for the majority of the half but it was Levante who came closest to scoring again as Iborra's piledriver from fully 30 yards rattled the top of the crossbar.

Real Betis vs Atletico Madrid Predictions: Draw 1-1

If youre watching this one .. Guarantee youll fall asleep before its over with. Both teams do not bring anything impressive to the table. This will be a slow pace match

English Premier League 2012 Preview: Norwich City vs West Ham United Predictions

Let's see if West Ham can recover from their lost last week when they play Norwich City in this weeks Premier League action. Catch real time updates on your favorite English Premier League Match.

Norwich City Preview

Most Norwich City supporters are relieved with just a little disappointment after the 1-1 draw with QPR. This was a much improved performance from Fulham, and a point is the least they deserved from an encouraging workout.

Every match performance has its good and its bad, but there was a lot more positive than negative for Norwich, which can give fans hope that it it will not be a season of struggle.

On a positive note about the tie was a full back tend to be either very solid or very good good going forward. The evidence of the QPR game suggests that Garrido may have the perfect balance between the two. Although, we will learn more in the next few games, it was certainly an encouraging start.

West Ham United Preview

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce had little reason to smile during Saturday's fixture at the Liberty Stadiumindeed, as the match wore on, Allardyce slumped farther and farther in his seat, an understandable reaction as he watched his side succumb to a 3-0 thumping at the hands of rampant Swansea City. A purposeful run down the left flank in the opening minutes saw Jarvis send a sumptuous cross toward goal. Swansea keeper Michel Vorm came for it, but the bend nearly took it beyond him and into the path of an arriving bunch of West Ham players.

Jarvis added to his bright beginning with a charged run past right-back Angel Rangel. His pace was too much for the Spaniard, who was forced to bring him down near the left end line.

The 26-year-old scorer of eight goals last season for Wolves nearly opened his account at United with a terrific volleyed effort.

Norwich City vs West Ham United Predictions: 2-3

West Ham comes into this match on a positive note after making an example of Fulham beating them 3-0 last week. Norwich will put up a fight in this one but, in the end Norwich doesnt match West Ham's offensive power.

English Premier League 2012 Preview: Arsenal vs Southampton Predictions

Southhampton will seek to avenge their last week loss to Wigan and take it out on Arsenal in this weeks English Premier match up. Catch real time updates on your favorite English Premier League Match.

Arsenal Preview

Arsenal do their best to play a possession-based game, which can be appealing to the eye, Southhampton prefer a more old-fashioned "up and at them" approach. In team news, Arsenal should have more or less the same players available as last week, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might return, and Wojciech Szczesny is a doubt after picking up an injury. I can only hope Szczesny plays because I don't fancy the thought of watching Lukasz Fabianski play against Stoke. He has struggled with their style of football in the past, and if he is to get his chance, I would hope for it to be against a less physical team.

The defense and midfield will probably be the exact same as they were last week against Sunderland, but Chamberlain and Ramsey will be hoping to be included.

Southampton Preview

The first ever league meeting between Wigan and Southampton went the way of the visitors (2-0 Wigan) after a display of real professionalism from a Wigan side still hurting from the opening minutes of the game against Chelsea the previous week. The home side, on the back of an impressive performance in a narrow defeat to Manchester City, never really got a foothold in the game and failed to make their home advantage tell.

Wigans only change was summer arrival Arouna Kone coming in to replace Victor Moses, who completed a 9m transfer to Chelsea the night before. Kone played as a lone striker, with Franco Di Santo taking up the wing role previously occupied by Moses.

The task for Wigan was always going to be to contain a Saints side playing their first Premier League home match for seven years. As with the first away match of the previous season at Swansea, its important to try and frustrate the opposition and take chances to counter-attack when the opportunity arises. And thats pretty much how this one panned out.

After a goalless first half, Wigan wasted little time in asserting their authority on the game. After some neat build-up play and a lovely through ball from Shaun Maloney, Franco Di Santo turned and fired an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net beyond a helpless Kelvin Davis to put his side in front.

The goal left Southampton chasing the game, but as Wigan defended doggedly, they became increasingly frustrated and continued to find Ali Al Habsi in unbeatable form between the posts. In the first half Al Habsi had brilliantly palmed a drive from home captain Adam Lallana onto the crossbar, and he was at it again in the second half, turning away efforts from first Daniel Fox and then big goal threat Rickie Lambert.

Arsenal vs Southampton Predictions: 2-3

Southampton came off of a tough loss last week losing to Manchester United on a remarkable hat trick pulled off by Robin Van Persie. Here is the kicker in this game Arsenal is not Manchester United. Southampton will unleash their frustration on a much weaker Arsenal team that doesnt stack up offensive or defensive wise to Southhampton.

English Premier League 2012 Preview: Aston Villa vs Swansea City Predictions

Can Aston Villa continue their tear? We'll see when they face Swansea City in the English Premier League Catch real time updates on your favorite English Premier League Match.

Aston Villa Preview

There will be bigger obstacles for Paul Lambert and his players to overcome during the coming months but this was at least a small step in the right direction as Aston Villa got their season up and running with only their second home victory since November winning 3-0 over Tranmere. On a night when there were more empty seats than supporters inside Villa Park, Fabian Delph scored the first and any hopes Tranmere had of becoming the second Merseyside club to win here in the space of four days were extinguished when Chris Herd added a second.

A satisfactory evening's work for Villa was complete when Darren Bent emphatically swept the substitute Brett Holman's cut-back into the top corner nine minutes from time. It was Bent's first goal since the start of February and allowed the home supporters in a disappointing but hardly surprising crowd of 15,319 to celebrate the sight of Villa scoring three goals here for the first time since they defeated a Norwich side managed by Lambert on Bonfire night last year.

Although there were few sparks last night, all that really mattered for Villa on the back of Saturday's miserable home defeat against Everton was that they safely negotiated a path past a Tranmere side riding high in League One. "I know from experience these type of games can be tricky so it was really pleasing," said Lambert, who made six changes from the side that lost to Everton. "Any game you win it makes you feel good and the players deserve a lot of credit for bouncing back the way they did.

Swansea City Preview

A major setback has hit Swansea City,Andy Carroll is expected to miss England's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine due to injury( reported by ESPN).

The disappointing news is the only blip in an otherwise excellent week for the striker.

Having recently sealed a season-long loan deal from Liverpool to West Ham, Carroll made his debut in the 3-0 domination of Fulham.

After suffering the same scoreline last week to Swansea City, the Hammers showed an immediate improvement with the 23-year-old on the side.

Just one minute was on the clock before Carroll's presence had an impact. His neatly placed header found Ricardo Vaz Te, who set up the influential Kevin Nolan to make the score 1-0.

Carroll continued to terrorise the Fulham defence in the first half.

His fierce aerial duel with Brede Hangeland typified West Ham's entire performance. Sam Allardyce's men worked hard, pressured the opposition into mistakes and played a surprising amount of passes along the floor.

Aston Villa vs Swansea City Predictions: 2-1

Aston Villa came off of a tough 1-1 draw last week against Newcastle United Hatem Ben Arfa got Newcastle out of jail with a stunning equalizer as Aston Villa saw victory snatched from their grasp. They have Swansea this week I believe this will be a great and close match but, with the home crowd behind Aston Villa and the bitter loss from last week they will squeak a victory.

English Premier League 2012 Preview: Fulham vs W.B.A Predictions

Will Fulham bounce back from their loss last week? Let's see if West Brom has anything to say about that. Catch real time updates on your favorite English Premier League Match.

Fulham Preview

Fulham suffered a beating from West Ham United losing 3-0. It was perhaps to be expected that Andy Carroll's West Ham United debut would be one to remember. Free from the shackles that restricted his progress at Liverpool and without the burdensome 35m price tag hanging over his head, he produced a commanding display to spearhead his new side to a convincing victory over Fulham.

Even in the tunnel before kick-off, Carroll appeared a man revelling in his new surroundings. He looked relaxed and carefree, aware that he was again under the spotlight but unperturbed by the prospect. The leap that caused his hamstring strain and absence from the upcoming England squad epitomised his performance charging like a rampaging bull and hurling himself into a contest with Brede Hangeland that he had little chance of winning just after the hour.

Sam Allardyce was rightfully delighted with his endeavour, if upset by the injury. He said: "What's important is the delight of everybody when he walked through the door today, I think it made us all feel that little bit better, when you have a 35m centre-forward walk through the door. The disappointing thing is the injury."

There was almost a denigrating tone to the way Carroll, when it became clear that he would be leaving Anfield, was referred to as "big Andy" by Brendan Rodgers. But while he clearly did not fit into the Liverpool.

W.B.A Preview

High-flying West Brom avoided an upset after securing a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Yeovil in a pulsating Capital One Cup second round clash.

Two goals from Shane Long and singles from Chris Brunt and Craig Dawson cancelled out two headers by ex-Baggie Reuben Reid to book the Premier League side's place in the third round.

West Brom manager Steve Clarke made 10 changes from his side that clinched a last-gasp draw at Tottenham on Saturday, with long the only starter in north London also fielded from the start at Huish Park.

The hosts started the brighter and came close to opening the scoring after five minutes. A dangerous free-kick by Captain Jamie McAllister was met by the head of Byron Webster, with goalkeeper Boaz Myhill pushing the effort over the crossbar.

The threatening start by the Glovers, who sit top of League One following Saturday's 4-0 victory at Scunthorpe, continued when James Hayter hit the post in the eighth minute after a goalmouth scramble.

The early pressure paid off on 15 minutes when a teasing free-kick by midfielder Ed Upson from the left was glanced past Myhill by striker Reid.

Reid, who was signed by Glovers boss Gary Johnson in the summer following his release from Oldham, featured just seven times during a frustrating spell at The Hawthorns.

The away side grew into the game as the first half developed, and drew level on 40 minutes after a sensational strike by Brunt.

Fulham vs W.B.A Predictions: 2-3

Goals by Shane Long and Gareth McAuley ended Everton's 11-game unbeaten run in the Premier League as West Brom wrapped up a Merseyside double with a 2-0 win at The Hawthorns.West Brom packs a nice offensive punch that will be more than Fulham can handle though it wont be a push over West Brom will walk away with this match.

English Premier League 2012 Preview: Manchester United vs Wigan Athletic Predictions

Check out the clash of the titans when Manchester United go head up with Wigan Athletic this week in the English Premier League. Catch real time updates on your favorite English Premier League Match.

Manchester United Preview

Robin van Persie's move from Arsenal to Manchester United is already paying dividends for the Red Devils.

RVP's first goal in United red was a thing of beauty, a piercing strike on the half-volley near the edge of the penalty area that saw Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer still starting his lunge as the ball starched the net. That is what world-class strikers in football are capable of, and it is perhaps van Persie's greatest gift: picking corners off half-volleys and other awkwardly placed passes.

In short, he finishes.

The addition of van Persie to the already powerful United side was analyzed by some as money spent in the wrong place. United already has a special striker in Wayne Rooney through whom most of their offense flows.

Meanwhile, United lost its first game of the season primarily because a spate of injuries forced Sir Alex Ferguson to entrust midfielder Michael Carrick with the chore of marking Everton’s Marouane Fellaini on a set piece, with disastrous results.

Wigan Athletic Preview

Wigan Athletic killed this contest off in the first half. Three of their four goals came (4-1 over Nottingham) then and though Nottingham Forest scored immediately after the break and had a man advantage for the closing 22 minutes following Antoln Alcaraz's red card, the evening ended in the "honourable defeat" file for Sean O'Driscoll's men.

These sides had made a steady start to their respective seasons. Wigan recovered from being shredded by an Eden Hazard-inspired Chelsea 3-0 in their opening Premier League fixture by defeating Southampton 2-0 at the weekend.

O'Driscoll's tenure as the latest Forest manager with hopes of returning the club to the top-flight began with an unbeaten run – two draws and a win in the Championship, to compliment a victory over Fleetwood Town in this competition's previous round.

On Friday at Bolton Wanderers there were encouraging passages of play from Forest that suggested O'Driscoll's message was beginning to be heard by his new squad.

In the first half here, though, a step was taken backwards. Forest's midfield allowed Roberto Martnez's side to surge too easily at and through them. They walked off 3-0 down due to goals from Mauro Boselli, Maynor Figueroa and Jordi Gmez.

The opener came when Ronnie Stam swept in a cross from the right that Boselli, a 6.5m buy from Estudiantes two years ago, stooped to head home from close range.

This was only the Argentinian's second Wigan goal – the first came in October 2010 – and came delivered from a forward who earlier this year was voted Wigan's poorest ever foreign signing.

Manchester United vs Wigan Athletic Predictions: 3-0

Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick to give Manchester United a last-gasp 3-2 win over Southampton at St Mary's in what was Sir Alex Ferguson's 1000th league game as a manager. Van Persie also saw a penalty saved by Saints goalkeeper Kelvin Davis. Here is the scary thing about this game super striker Robin Van Persie can have the same type of game against Wigan Athletic. Let's face it Manchester United just has way to much firepower for a lot of teams in the Premier League.

English Premier League 2012 Preview: Stoke City vs Manchester City Predictions

Manchester City will look to dominate once again but, will Stoke City have something to say about it. Catch real time updates on your favorite English Premier League Match.

Stoke City Preview

Swindon pulled off the biggest upset of the night in the Capital One Cup second round as a James Collins hat-trick helped them knock out Premier League Stoke City 4-3 in extra time.

The League One side shocked their top flight opponents in the opening period as Collins pounced upon a Thomas Sorensen error to make it 1-0 in the 27th minute and then doubled their lead by nodding in just before half-time.

Stoke managed to take it to extra-time with a spirited second-half fight back, with goals from Kenwyne Jones and Jon Walters, but Paulo Di Canio's Swindon would not be denied in the additional period, with defender Aden Flint and Collins scoring either side of Peter Crouch's header for the hosts.

Stoke were playing their second match in just over 48 hours following Sunday's 0-0 draw with Arsenal and manager Tony Pulis made six changes to his starting lineup. However, the Potters looked anything but invigorated in the first half, though, against a lively Swindon team whose record for the campaign going into the contest showed no defeats and no goals conceded in four matches, and included a 3-0 victory over Championship outfit Brighton in the previous round.

The Robins appeared comfortable from the off and after Tommy Miller had sent a shot into the arms of Sorensen, Rafaelle De Vita struck wide.

It seemed only a matter of time before the hosts settled down to take control, and soon enough they were worrying Swindon, Cameron Jerome firing in a speculative effort from distance, Jones heading over from a cross and the pair then getting in each other's way as they attempted to meet another.

Stoke were showing some sloppiness at the back, though, with Collins just unable to capitalise on one defensive lapse before he made the most of a further error to put Swindon ahead.

Manchester City Preview

Manchester City dominates QPR .Despite creating a multitude of chances, City needed a quick response from Dzeko after Bobby Zamora cancelled out Toure's effort but Tevez made the scoreline more convincing in injury time.

Apart from QPR's recovery after falling behind, the match had little in common with that in May.

The visitors were hardly a factor for long spells and only three of their starting line-up were in the team that memorable afternoon.

Their changes included a debut for new signing Esteban Granero while goalkeeper Robert Green, dropped from the England squad this week, started what could be his last match as first choice.

The 32-year-old only joined the club in the summer but now faces an uncertain future following this week's capture of Julio Cesar from Inter Milan.

Scott Sinclair was the only one of City's five deadline day signings to make their squad but did not get off the bench.

City, watched by Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho ahead of their Champions League meeting, soon established control with Toure bossing the midfield.

QPR survived a scare in the first minute when Dzeko, starting for the first time this season, glanced a header wide from a corner.

The Bosnian went even closer as he was first to meet another corner but this time Fabio da Silva, on loan from Manchester United, did well to hack off the line.

Stoke City vs Manchester City Predictions: 1-2

Manchester City made easy work out of QPR 3-1 with Yaya Tour, Edin Dzecko and Carlos Teves struck as a dominant but wasteful Manchester City narrowly saw off QPR at the Etihad Stadium once again. Up next will be Stoke City and once again I see the same results. The fact of the matter is Stoke City doesnt match well with the speed of Manchester City's mid fielders thus making it difficult to beat the visiting Manchester City team.

English Premier League 2012 Preview: Reading vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

Reading will look to see if they can continue their offensive tear against Tottenham. Catch real time updates on your favorite English Premier League Match.

Reading Preview

New signing Bakary Sako scored his first goal for Wolves as they progressed to the third round of the Capital One Cup by beating Northampton 3-1 at Sixfields.

In the early exchanges, Ben Tozer failed to get a good connection with Clive Platt's knockdown and Wolves wideman Anthony Forde flashed a shot across goal and just wide of the far post.

But Danny Batth gave Wolves the lead in the 17th minute, getting the final touch on Forde's inswinging corner. Frank Nouble saw his angled drive charged down as the Championship side stepped up a gear and threatened to score a second goal.

But the Cobblers soon forced their way back into the game.

Chris Hackett forced Carl Ikeme into action with a low drive and moments later his deep corner was headed over by David Artell.

The equaliser came five minutes before the break when Platt headed home Hackett's pin-point cross.

Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Tottenham conceded a late equaliser for the second week running as Andre Villas-Boas's wait for his first win in charge continued. After a hugely disappointing performance in the first hour, Mousa Dembele thought he had saved the manager's blushes by scoring on his debut with an 18-yard strike.

The 15 million man's goal was not enough to give Villas-Boas the victory, though, as Robert Snodgrass scored five minutes from time after Spurs buckled under pressure in the same way they did against West Brom last week.

Villas-Boas's approach had failed to excite the majority of Spurs fans during his first two games in charge, and today's offering hardly set the collective pulse of the home crowd racing at White Hart Lane.

The London club lacked penetration up front and were almost totally devoid of ideas in midfield and on the flanks until the introduction of Dembele and Emmanuel Adebayor - and the home support made their feelings known at the final whistle by booing their team off.

Worryingly for Villas-Boas, Tom Huddlestone was also sent off for a very poor tackle on Bradley Johnson with a minute left.

And had it not been for an excellent performance from Brad Friedel, Spurs could have been 3-0 down by the time Dembele struck.

Reading vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions: 0-2

Tottenham conceded a late equaliser 1-1 draw against Norwich City for the second week running as Andre Villas-Boas's wait for his first win in charge continued. Spurs will look to dominate from start to finish their defense is good enough to hold a team like Reading at the end of the day this is money in the bag and chalk up an easy win for Tottenham.

Last minute substitute Juanmi saved a point for Malaga as they drew 1-1 with Real Mallorca.

The forward had only been on the field for nine minutes before he evened out Tomer Hemed's strike at the 67th minute mark.

Both teams went into the match in great form. Malaga came in winning their Primera Division opener against Celta Vigo also before defeating Panathinaikos in their Champions League play-off encounter also Malaga still on their unbeaten start in the Primera Division season capped off a 1-0 victory at Real Zaragoza with the help of Nacho Camacho's second header.

Levante Preview

Levante pulled off a beautiful 3-2 comeback win against Espanyol and earn their first Primera Division victory of the campaign.

Espanyol looked like they had this one in the bag especially taking a commanding a 2-0 lead inside the opening 25 minutes with the help of their new signings over the summer Samuele Longo and Sergio Tejera.

However, Levante started to fight back at the start of the second half to draw even with quick strike goals from Juanlu and Christian Lell and then, their set back was losing star striker Vicente Iborra to a red card in the 82nd minute, the home team had points taken the points when Michel's cross was deflected in three minutes in stop time.

Malaga vs Levante Predictions: 3-1

Malaga has a couple good things going for them. They are playing in front of their home crowd and 2) they can run up the score in a hurry. Levante is not as quick upfront and so they will have a hard time with Malaga’s midfielders. Look for an easy win for Malaga.

Sevilla with the home crowd behind will make this still an interesting match to watch but, I dont think they have enough to contend with Real Madrid .This though would be the time for them to come out of their offensive funk it just wont be in this match . Real Madrid will take this one on the road.

Spanish La Liga 2012 Preview: Valencia vs Celta Vigo Predictions

Can Valencia bounce back from their tough loss last week? Let's see if Celta Vigo can have an answer for them. Catch real time updates on your favorite Spanish La Liga Match.

Valencia Preview

Valencia came off of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Barcelona (A) last weekend and a 3-3 equaliser against Deportivo (H) the week before. Valencia is going through offensive woes looking to see wholl step up on offense. In this early season, they have scoring production coming from Roberto Soldado2, Sofian Feghouli 1 and Jonas 1 not much output from Valencia. Against Deportivo, Valencia had a comfortable 2-0 lead only to see it squander and ending in the 3-3 draw. We know there is a much better Valencia team by what we have seen we are just waiting for them to show it.

Celta Vigo Preview

Celta Vigo starts La Liga with a 1-2 record.Recently, with a 2-0 (H) win over the visiting Osasuna thanks to a pair of 2nd half goals from Iago Aspas and Mario Bermejo were enough to give Celta Vigo their 1st victory in the Primera Division in five years.

Valencia vs Celta Vigo Predictions: 3-1

Valencia playing at home and getting on track with the offense we know that they are capable of playing. Valencia packs a superb offense and their defense is up to par. Celta Vigo will be the recipient of this beat down this week end. Celta Vigo flat out doesnt have the speed to play with Valencia. Look for Valencia to dominate from start to finish.

Spanish La Liga 2012 Preview: RCD Espanyol vs Athletic Bilbao Predictions

Let's see if Espanyol can get this much needed win at home against Bilbao. Catch real time updates on your favorite Spanish La Liga Match.

RCD Espanyol Preview

Tough way for any team to start a season. Espanyol is looking for their 1st win after starting La Liga 0-3 with their losses coming from Levante 2-3(A) last Sunday a home loss to Real Zaragoza 1-2(H) and Mallorca to start their season 1-2(H). Espanyol is really bad and they need to pull this together especially 2 of their matches at home. This doesnt give the home fans much to write home about. Lets see if they can put something together against Athletic Bilbao this weekend.

Athletic Bilbao Preview

Bilbao comes off of an impressive 2-0 win over Valladolid at home last Sunday. The most impressive thing about their victory was there defense holding Valladolid to 8 shots on goal to their 16. The host were without once again Fernando Llorente and mid fielder Ander Herrera both out again with strained muscles. But, they could rest as Athletic Bilbao never looked behind in this match.

RCD Espanyol vs Athletic Bilbao Predictions: 1-0

Though I might end up shooting myself in the foot. Im going to make this my pick of the week and say that Espanyol will get their much needed win this week against Athletic Bilbao. They need not only to win get their 1st win but, they need to show their home fans that they are better than what their record shows.

Spanish La Liga 2012 Preview: Granada vs Deportivo La Coruna Predictions

This is a much needed win for Granada .Can they pull this off against Deportivo La Coruna. Catch real time updates on your favorite Spanish La Liga Match.

Granada Preview

Granada came off of a 3-0(A) loss to Real Madrid and 1-1 draw Sevilla (A). A big concern from the Real Madrid game are there to stats 1) Granada’s 7 shots(0) on goal to Real Madrid 22 also their time of possession being 29% to Real Madrid 71% those 2 stats would make any one turn their heads. Unfortunately, Granada will go up against a team that is the same caliber of Real Madrid when they face Deportivo this weekend.

Deportivo La Coruna Preview

Deportivo comes off of a pair of equalizers against Getafe (H) 1-1 and an away draw against Valencia 3-3. Their match was evenly played against Getafe in terms of their time of possession on 58% to Getafe 42% and their shots on goal 10 (5) to Getafe 13(4). This also is a much need win and not only that but, a jump start for La Coruna to get back on track. This is a very good team make no mistake about La Coruna is for real and they are a much better team then they have been showing as of late.

Granada vs Deportivo La Coruna Predictions: 2-1

Granada with the home team behind them will break out of their slump the pressure is on them but, with them playing at home will help them boost their confidence. I see this being a well fought game but, there is nothing like playing at home.
