Was going to be the next Bernie Parent for the Flyers in bringing the Cup back to Philly. Was driving extremely fast and not sober. More or less drove into the wall (steps of a school) without braking it appears.

Road was like a 145 angle to the right but never went in that direction. Never had a chance. MrsM previously walked by that crash site every day to grade school for 8 years.

I remember when that happened. I had a good friend who was a huge (obnoxious) Flyers fan so it was a big deal.

I feel like the thing to say here would be, "Wow. Time flies." But it actually does seem like a long, long time ago.

Driving like a complete maniac and drunk? I remember this like yesterday but I don't feel bad for this guy. Acting like a total maniac has consequences. If he did it because he was immature I feel awful for his surviving family members.

That reminds me of a couple of my friends from high school. One summer during college my good friend Todd had opened up a body shop in Wisconsin for building custom rods. He had a big field in the back of the shop and we'd have keggers with a bonfire back there a few times a week. It was normal for us to drive drunk. It just wasn't a hugely populated area. Anyway, one night he was driving home drunk on his Harley going about 80 MPH down a country road. A van started to pull out of its driveway, didn't see him, and killed him instantly. A few years later, his brother was out drinking and riding his Harley with a few of my other friends. He ended up hitting a car head-on and is now paralyzed from the neck down.
