To the left...to the left...to the right...to the right.

Tootsie rolls proudly made on the south side of Chicago. 75th and Cicero.
In what once was a great neighborhood until it was run over by shitheads.

My wife was raised in this sublet chicago neighborhood and my grandparents lived there as well. I frequented the area as a child.
There was virtually no crime iwhen it was all white. Many areas on the south side are broken down even further then Ashburn, Washington Park, etc. families identified themselves by what Catholic parish or church they belonged to.
Dads worked, moms cooked, kids had paper routes. All the yards looked perfect, you knew your butcher and had an assigned seat at the corner bar...but ya couldn't stay too late because you had to coach your kid Saturday morning and church was Sunday at 9.

Then shitheads moved in. juniors bike got stolen, Susie got glass in her foot at the park from a broken bottle of gin. Crime went up and whites moved out. This area still isn't as bad as many others on the south side. It is on the west edge of the city limits. Still 15% percent white. But those are old people living on the western edge who will leave that area in 10 years, in a casket. As you travel east it gets darker and darker. More currency exchanges, more liquor stores, etc.

Sad story really.
