is becoming the symbol for me of the babbling, dithering idiot communication level of our time. The word like with a liberal littering of, "You know what's?" and of course the word awesome.

So I, like, saw, like, the rerun of, like, Bob's Burgers and, like, you know what? I was like, totally like, awesome. LOL.

I don't know if it is a regional thing and my region has been hit particularly hard or it is consistent all through western society right now.

I heard a guy like that on the radio last week. Not someone being interviewed or phoning in - a paid host. Ugh.

My only point being, not to point fingers at others but ---> it has rubbed off on me. I used to do it being satirical - and now I'm pretty sure I do it all the time without realizing.

The further point being, I want to be more aware of it and cut it the fuck out.

That is all.

I use the unnecessary likes and you knows all the time, have been doing it for 25+ years I'm sure, but it's cool when I do it

at least I'm not saying "right?". that shit is evil and has taken over.

Paid hosts on radio shows are a whole another problem. The fake excitement overhype of nothing, has gone beyond extreme. I tried listening to radio for 5 minutes recently. I'm good for another 5 years. (tv is not far behind)

Just type ESPN, would be easier.

No need to apologize and I assume you are purposely missing the point because that's just the kinds of shenanigans you are.

The thread is nothing but a pledge to myself to try and be more self-aware and do better.

For me, saying something out loud makes it more official than just thinking it.

For the love of all that is holy though, communicate as you see fit MrMonkey!

i'm going through a heavy phase of 'you know'

I'm not even positive what I'm going through. I need a coach.

Like sometimes I'll hear Jackie McMullen on the radio and she literally can't get through a sentence without saying, "You know what?" - and I wonder if she knows or if she would like someone to point it out to her.

Maybe she is just as happy as pie but me, I would like someone to point shit out for me if I am babbling like a gum-snapping teen girl.

Maybe I will ask Harmony to keep an eye out as well as Jenny. Retrain my habits.

Verbal and written are two different things. I'm okay with the written. It's not like I type a bunch of stuff in all caps and use a bunch of unnecessary quotes and only realize after the fact that I am communicating poorly.

Written seems to take care of itself.

But spoken ---> easier for dopey-speak to slip in. I believe it is time for me to become well-spoken.

Well-spoken.

Well-spoken.

Muddy, I haven't heard you talk, but this guy needs it more than you! Just sayin!

Mike Golic drives me crazy when he says, "listen" before making a point. You are on the radio, what else are we going to do?
Literally is another word that people use that drives me crazy. Whenever someone uses literally, I expect they will be speaking in a figurative sense.

Feel like I must point out: when I used the word literally in this thread, I chose it carefully.

Jackie McMullen was inserting a "You know what?" into literally every sentence. Sometimes two or three.

I have no idea what points she was making because I was so fixated on it.

Golic's awesome. Greenie's even better.

But they ain't no Dan Patrick.
