Talk about sheer indulgence.
A man known only as "Howard" made it easy for airport screeners before he stepped aboard a recent US Airways flight from Fort Lauderdale to Phoenix. His attire — or lack thereof — consisted of electric blue panties and camisole, a half-length cardigan, black mules, a choker and thigh-high hose.
"It was unbelievable," Jill Tarlow of Phoenix said of her brief encounter with the gray-haired, middle-aged man on the June 9 flight. Tarlow and others complained, but US Airways employees let the lingerie-clad man board.
"We don't have a dress code policy," airline spokeswoman Valerie Wunder said. "So if they're not exposing their private parts, they're allowed to fly."
But exposure can be relative. Six days after Howard's free-form flight, University of New Mexico football player DeShon Marman was arrested after he boarded a US Airways flight in San Francisco wearing saggy pants.
The airline said Marman was exposing a body part. When he balked at leaving the plane, he was arrested on charges of suspicion of trespassing, battery of a police officer, and obstruction.
